Emergency room Made Dec 26, 2025, sent to the company Dec 31, 2025, published by CPSC Jan 15, 2026
The product, in the report: Plastic octopus with edges to place into other pieces
On 12/22/2025, my nearly 3-year-old child received a kids meal toy from Chick-fil-A. The toy was a small plastic sea animal included with the meal. While playing with the toy in a normal and age-appropriate manner, the toy made contact with his eye.
Immediately after, my child experienced significant eye pain, redness, and distress. We sought emergency medical care the same day. He was evaluated in the emergency room and diagnosed with a corneal abrasion. Medication was prescribed, and he was instructed to follow up with an eye doctor (ophthalmologist).
The toy appeared to have rough or rigid edges, which may have contributed to the injury. The toy has been retained for documentation, and photographs have been taken.
This report is being submitted to document the injury and raise concern about the safety of this product for young children.
