The product, in the report: MouthLight toy
My name is Dr [REDACTED] and I am the medical director at a poison control center in California. My contact info is email [REDACTED] , and my cell phone is [REDACTED]. There is a potentially hazardous product containing button batteries that I saw being sold at our local Spirit Halloween store. The toy is a “mouth light” which means that children are encouraged to put it inside their mouth (choking hazard) and then turn on the lights which are powered by 2 small disc batteries housed in a plastic cage (burn hazard if the cage were damaged and the objects were swallowed).
At poison control, we spend a lot of time education parents and health providers about the dangers of toddlers ingesting button batteries, and here we have a product that is literally designed to have them put these batteries in the mouth. My team wanted to ask around to see how to get this pulled from the retail marketplace.
