The product, in the report: Liquid Motion Bubbler, size and colors vary: each individual toy ia about 5 inches all, about 2 inches wide, with varying colors inside (one had light blue, one had dark blue, other had pink and purple).
On Sunday night into Monday morning, my child was playing independently in his bedroom with a childrens sensory toy containing liquid. During this time, the toy broke, releasing its liquid contents. The liquid soaked into my childs pajamas. At the time, we were unaware that the toy had broken or that the pajamas were contaminated. My child slept overnight in the liquid-soaked pajamas, resulting in prolonged skin contact with the substance. On Monday morning, my child exhibited very red, irritated, rash-like skin. No blisters were present at that time. His father took him to our local Urgent Care where he was misdiagnosed with eczema and provided a steroid cream. The cream was applied that day at noon. By Monday evening, the condition progressed to blistering, weeping, and peeling skin. A second layer of the steroid cream was not applied. I took him to our local hospital in [REDACTED]. He was accessed and transferred via ambulance to a childs burn specialty hospital that night. My child was admitted to the [REDACTED] from Monday evening through Thursday afternoon, where he was diagnosed with first- and second-degree chemical burns. Hospital staff stated that the liquid caused irritation and chemical burns wherever it contacted the skin. Due to the severity of the burns, my child required sedation for initial wound care and debridement and required opioid pain management (oxycodone) to tolerate wound care. Oxycodone continues to be required at home for dressing changes. Daily wound care instructions include removal of dressings, gentle cleansing with baby soap, application of petroleum-infused bandages, and wrapping with gauze and [REDACTED] bandages. Weekly follow-up appointments are scheduled until healing is complete. At present, healing is progressing as expected. Mild itchiness and peeling are present in healing areas. Pain is primarily associated with wound care. Broken toy pieces were discarded prior to the appearance of blistering, and the pajamas worn during exposure were washed before the chemical nature of the injury was known.
