The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Shopkins Candy Dispenser

I purchased my 3 year old niece a “Shopkins Candy + Dispenser” from WalMart (3270 Telegraph Rd, Saint Louis, MO 63125) on 9/15/17. On 9/16/17 she tried to get the candy out of the dispenser, and her thumb (on her left hand) got stuck in the dispenser. Her thumb swelled twice its normal size (while the candy dispenser was still on her thumb) and her thumb turned dark red. I applied coconut oil on her thumb and on the toy to try to get it off of her thumb but it didn’t work. So I soaked her entire left hand in warm water. After 15-20 minutes I finally got the toy off of her thumb. Once I got it off, her thumb was swollen and red. She was in a lot of pain, so I had to give her some children’s Tylenol. I called her doctor’s after hours number to see if I needed to take her to the ER. Her doctor’s on-call nurse informed me that if the swelling hasn’t gone down within 48 hours, then I need to take her to the ER. I think that the shopkins candy dispenser is a hazardous and it should be taken off of store shelves everywhere!
