The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Mystery dumpling squishy . Brown “steamer basket” multiple colored squishies

I am formally requesting a priority product safety investigation, market suspension, and mandatory federal recall of the aforementioned product line due to severe chemical off-gassing and structural non-compliance with the Federal Hazardous Substances Act (FHSA).Upon opening the sealed plastic “steamer basket” packaging, the product immediately emits an intense, acute, and eye-watering volatile chemical odor closely resembling industrial solvents, gasoline, and wet paint. This severe chemical off-gassing occurs directly from the synthetic Thermoplastic Rubber (TPR) outer skin and the unlabelled interior liquid gel core.Because this toy is a sensory “squishy” item shaped like food and explicitly marketed to young children, the intended play pattern involves heavy tactile manipulation and holding the item in close proximity to the childs face, nose, mouth, and eyes. This poses an immediate, continuous, and unlabelled inhalation risk of highly concentrated Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) to a vulnerable population.Furthermore, international regulatory bodies (including UK Trading Standards) have already issued urgent public safety recalls and product seizures on identical generic imported “Squeezy Dumpling” variants after laboratory testing definitively confirmed the presence of severe chemical hazards, including the restricted carcinogen Benzene.Based on existing international laboratory data and the immediate, overwhelming chemical emissions from this product line, I urge the Commission to fast-track this case for independent chemical testing and enforce an immediate ban from U.S. retail shelves before acute chemical exposure injuries manifest in domestic consumers.
