Hurt, no treatment Made Oct 12, 2026, sent to the company Oct 16, 2026, published by CPSC Oct 30, 2026
The product, in the report: LeapFrog Learning Friends 100 Words Book an interactive electronic learning toy/book designed for young children. The book has a blue and white plastic body with a green carrying handle and a multicolored plastic ring/hinge mechanism along the spine. It teaches more than 100 words in English and Spanish using touch-sensitive pages, pictures, words, and sounds. The front cover displays Learning Friends 100 Words Book and features illustrated animals, including a tiger, turtle, bird, and monkey.
My child has been pinched by this toy on three separate occasions, resulting in significant bruising and visible marks on his leg. After the most recent incident, two adults examined the toy to determine how the injury was occurring. With only gentle contact, the mechanism also pinched both adults fingers.
The pinch point appears capable of trapping skin with enough force to cause injury during normal handling/use of the toy. I am concerned that the design creates an accessible pinch point for young children.
The toy has been removed from my childs use. I have photographs of the toy and injuries and can provide the model/serial information and additional documentation if requested.
