The product, in the report: Side Arm Water Heater vent valve
The consumer says the vent valve leaks and filled the thermostat housing up with water. It shorted the thermostat housing out. He says that he called a repair man who replaced the thermostat. The automatic vent valve still leaked. He contacted the manufacturer who contacted him by email. they instructed him to screw the cap valve tight. It still did not stop the leak. He emailed the manufacturer. It again filled the thermostat housing (cavity) with water and the thermostat again failed, this time in the open position. It was warranted by the distributor. Replaced no charge by Charleye Heating.
The consumer says that the temperature on his water reached 160 degrees. The consumer has corrected the problem by installing a new automatic vent valve with a ball type shut-off valve and the heater, so the vent valve cannot leak unless this valve is turned on. Which owner does occassionally to be sure there is no air in the boiler side of the tank.
