The product, in the report: AO Smith Water Heater Model G6-US7576NV 100 It is a brand new AO Smith 74 gallon hot water heater Serial # 2108123265940 which replaced the other brand new hot water heater, serial #2042121461034, which also produced the same white smoke containing carbon monoxide, as reported to me by the gas company. In between the 2 they sent a replacement burner which also did the same thing. The gas company employee looked at the burner that has been removed and believed there to be an issue with defective burners on this appliance. Since all 3 did the same thing, it is clearly a defective and dangerous product.

A new Ao Smith 74 gallon hot water heater was placed in my home 4/27/21, it began to produce white smoke and the smell was awful. They sent a replacement burner which was installed 4/30/21 and the same thing happened. Subsequently they replaced the entire hot water heater AGAIN 5/3/21 and the same thing occurred. On this occasion I began to feel ill and called the gas company to make sure there wasn’t a gas leak. The gas company red tagged the unit and now the plumber that was supposed to come out said he believes the call was cancelled bc of the red tag and my health concerns.

The product, in the report: water heater from A. O. Smith

Our water heater initially shut itself off when we weren’t home. We relit the pilot light and after running for several minutes it began shooting flames from the bottom multiple times before it shut off. We tried two more times to relight it and once relit and running for several minutes, it shot flames out again each time. We then shut the unit off and the gas line for fear of a fire or explosion.

The product, in the report: AO Smith Water Heater White

I am an 85 year old veteran homeowner. I had an AO Smith water heater installed a few years ago. About a year ago, last April-2018 I think it was, I noticed something going on and there was fire actually firing out from water heater from underneath. An intense fast burning flame just shooting out into the open space. I worried about this but then the water heater just shut down and went kaput. I had a guy come out and he fixed it by installing some kind of new fire plate or something to do with the heating mechanism I don’t know exactly which. The just a few weeks ago it started acting up again, there was no intense flame shooting out this time, but the thing just went kaput. I called the same fellow out again and he gave me the choice of purchasing a new water heater $1800 dollars but I couldn’t afford that so instead he ordered another firing plate or fire mechanism which took a few days then he came back and fixed it. So it’s been running okay this last week or so but I worry. Can you help me find and install a new solid water heater in its place. Now I feel real uncomfortable with this thing in my home and so does my wife. Please let us know just as soon as you can. Many thanks and God bless, [REDACTED]

I have many kids in the house. the serial number of the unit 134T471992. I am very concerned about the safety of this unit and the lack of response from the manufacturer. Thank you. [REDACTED]
