  1. No one hurt

The product, in the report: Childrens 12V electric ride-on go-kart marketed as the KIDSCLEANCAR Portable Go Kart. It is a small battery-powered toy vehicle designed for ages 38 years, with variable speed control and foot pedal operation. The vehicle is red and black plastic with a molded seat, steering wheel, and rear-mounted rechargeable battery pack. The product includes a wall charger and was sold as a motorized childrens toy for home or outdoor use.

We purchased a childrens 12V electric ride-on toy (KIDSCLEANCAR Portable Go Kart, sold by Henry Toys on Amazon). This morning, we noticed a strong odor inside our home that smelled like gas or chemicals. After investigating, we found the odor was coming from the toys battery compartment.

When I opened the compartment outside, I discovered the battery had swelled significantly. The scooter had not been in use recently and was stored unplugged indoors. No one was injured, but the battery is clearly damaged and poses a fire and explosion risk.

We immediately moved the scooter outdoors to a safe area away from the house. The odor was strong enough to make us suspect a gas leak initially. We are reporting this as a potential lithium-ion battery failure on a childrens product. The product was sold new through Amazon and delivered in December 2024.
