The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

The product, in the report: Huffy Ariel scooter bought at Toys R Us

Tuesday afternoon my daughter who weighs only 62 lbs, was riding on her scooter in the yard, when the scooter tipped over suddenly and caused her to fall on her face and loose 4 permanent front teeth. This led to an emergency visit to the dentist and will cost us time and money to help her feel better again. On examining the scooter it is clear that the front wheel base cracked during normal use causing the scooter to suddenly flip her over. This has caused tremendous pain and anxiety and will lead many painful procedures to repair. We have owned this scooter for a few weeks and used it indoors until recently. Only my daughter and 4 yo son have been on it. For it to malfunction in such a critical way is unacceptable for a children’s product. Not only should we be compensated for her pain and suffering now and ongoing, but this item should be RECALLED immediately.

The product, in the report: child`s scooter

My grand daughter (40 lb 3 year old) was riding her new scooter inside when the front fork/wheel broke off. Luckily she was barely moving at the time. Inspecting the scooter then I found that the front fork was attached to a tube with 3 poor welds. My concern is that other children could experience serious injury on this product if this poor design and shoddy workmanship is wide spread.
