The product, in the report: Queen size, electric blanket, brown in color
The electric blanket was on the “medium” setting and had been on for a couple hours. The consumer woke up in the middle of the night to an odor that resembled burning wires, but could not immediately identify where it was emitting from. Therefore, the consumer unplugged everything in her bedroom.
The next morning and consumer discovered that the electric blanket, her pillow, mattress pad, fitted sheet, flat sheet and 6-additional blankets that she covers herself with, were also burned. There was discoloration to all of the items and all of them had holed burned through them. Even her bed’s mattress was burned. The consumer was not injured.
The consumer used the electric blanket every day, but did not use it overnight all of the time.
The consumer’s brother purchased the blanket, so he called the retailer (which is also the manufacturer) and their rep. told him to bring it back for a refund.
The consumer was not comfortable with simply returning it, because of the amount of damage that it caused. The consumer made several calls to the retailer about the incident. One rep. directed her to the purchaser for this particular store [REDACTED]and she has left several messages with her, over several days, but has not received a response as of yet.
