  1. No one hurt

Made May 10, 2021, sent to the company May 28, 2021, published by CPSC Jun 14, 2021

The product, in the report: Electric blanket PillowpadsAndMore out of business (tried contacting, checked on Internet) (phone calls not answered; just “busy” signal)

Caller stated that the queen size electric blanket 2 (two) transformer melted, he noticed this incident when he was putting the blanket away. He stated that a hole was melted in the plastic transformers this seems to be going on for a while. Caller stated that the controller was replaced due to a failure in 2019.

The manufacturer was not contacted as yet. Manufacturer is in China: no way to contact

Caller is concerned that this blanket could have caused serious injuries or a house fire and should be recalled.

The product is an electric blanket. Both transformers have clearly overheated and the casings have partially melted. One has a hole burned through, as the image shows. I tried contacting the company, but was unable to do so. I assume they are out of business. However, I have seen the same item in other catalogs and online stores. Thank you,

The product, in the report: Perfect Fit Low Voltage Warming Mattress Pad Queen Model #LVPQ-4-2

The Perfect Fit warming mattress padoverheated to the point that it burned through the pad- burning both the bottom sheet and the top of the mattress, itself. The pad was being used as instructed and was washed occasionally PRECISELY accorgint to the directions on the label. Fortunately, I did not sustain any injuries- however, had I not happened to glance at the bottom sheet before going to sleep, I certainly would have sustained a burn.

  5. First aid

Made Mar 5, 2017, sent to the company Mar 14, 2017, published by CPSC Mar 28, 2017

The product, in the report: Perfect Fit Low Voltage Mattress Warming Pad Queen Model #LVPQ-4-2 Power Supplies #120-16 rated 120volts, 60 hz, 77 watts/side, output 16 VDC 60 inch by 80 inch

Our queen-size mattress was covered with a Perfect Fit Low Voltage Mattress Warming Pad #LVPQ-4-2. I noticed that the connector between the power supply/control unit and my side of the mattress would get hot. Last night I rested my elbow against it (the warmer pad was covered by a flannel sheet) and received a second-degree burn approximately the size of a dime.

The connector and wires have a brownish discoloration. This is our second identical unit; we stopped using the first one after the same wires turned brown and appeared scorched.

The pad has been disconnected and will be removed. The burn has been treated per normal first aid protocols.

    Photos are available.

The product, in the report: Heated Mattress Pad - Cal King size

I noticed earlier this year that a brown spot appeared on our fitted sheet, which then crisped up and burned through. Looking underneath it, I found where one of the coils on our heated mattress pad had burned up. This then burned through the sheets above, singed some of the pillows, and burned the top of the mattress underneath.

The product, in the report: Soft Heat Luxury Micro-Fleece Electric Heated Warming Blanket Quuen Size-Chocolate, Perfect Fit

I purchased an electric blanket December 10, 2013. It is a queen size with two controllers. We were getting ready to go on an extended weekend trip. I checked the house to make sure everything was off. When I went into the bedroom I noticed a burning smell. We immediately unplugged everything in the bedroom. I touched the electric blanket controller and it was extremely hot and it smelled like burning electrical wiring. It had not been turned on or several days and it was not on when we found it.

The product, in the report: Perfect Fit Industries/800-299-1378 Electric Mattress Pad (Queen) sold by Sleep Comfort Corp. under model number 421582 (no longer being sold by Sleep Number)

Perfect Fit Industries electric mattress pad purchased through Sleep Comfort Corp. model number 421582 on 01/16/2012. Noticed a burning smell one morning this year(2013)but did not check further. When we removed the electric mattress pad this Spring we noticed that one plug and one receptacle was discolored. Local Sleep Number store will not refund on accessory items. Perfect Fit will only replace the defective item, not issue a refund. We are still trying Sleep Number corporation to obtain a refund. Sleep Number is not carrying the item any longer. We were very lucky we were not sleeping on a burning mattress pad!

This happened to a second blanket was purchased at the same time from the same dealer. I noticed it in November and I was offered a discount for the purchase of a replacement
