The product, in the report: Classic Beauty Rest Automatic Electric Warming Throw
Subsidiary of Simmons Bedding Company RN: 109538 Patent Number: 6222162
12/26/2015 - The consumer’s niece laid the throw over her grandmother’s lap while she was in bed. Approximately four or five hours, the consumer’s niece smelled smoke. When she got to her grandmother’s bedroom, she noticed it was coming from the throw. When she removed the product, it had already burnt part of the mattress (a hole with approximately four inches in diameter). The consumer’s niece’s grandmother was not injured.
The consumer indicates that the throw was plugged in to MEDIUM and that it has an automatic ten-hour-shut-off button. The consumer’s niece received the product as a gift for Christmas 2015.
The consumer has tried several times contacting the manufacturer at the number that is on the product (800-495-6585) but to no avail. The first time it asked to leave a voice message and the last few times the number had been discontinued.
