The product, in the report: Propane gas regulator
(09/11/2024) An Emerson (Fischer) part was installed by my contractor while setting up my propane tank and connections to a fireplace, and [REDACTED] whole home generator. We live in rural Waverly Va. The contractor did an outstanding job. This complaint is NOT about them. In a mere 20 months the Emerson Fischer regulator failed, and had my son not picked up on the propane smell, I never would have. I am older and my sense of smell isnt what it once was. The propane system installer had me cut off the propane, and came out to identify and repair the leak. They checked all the connections, and after replacing one small part (believing that may have been the cause) they could not identify a continuing pressure leak. After 2 hours of investigating, they sprayed the regulator and found that it had failed. 20 months!!! In checking with the provider Emerson (Fischer) they confirmed that Emerson only warrants the part for 1 year. This leaking 20 month old defective regulator made by Emerson Fischer is not warranted, and was leaking near two potential ignition sources, the [REDACTED] which kicks on once a week, and the AC unit which this summer has run nearly non stop. I find it completely unacceptable that a company that manufactures gas delivery equipment will not stand behind it for a longer period of time (5 years) as this defective equipment put my home at risk of explosion in 20 months. Had this happened I would suspect a civil (and potential criminal depending on the damage/death caused by an explosion) court of law would would find in my favor, so I dont see how they cannot cover a defective workmanship part on a piece of equipment as critical and risky as a regulator for a maximum of a year. I think they should cover the $205 that I was charged to replace their defective regulator, which lasted (maybe) 20 months. This could have been leaking for months before it was discovered. As I noted my sense of smell isnt that good any more
