The product, in the report: Snow Mobile
This caller is reporting his 2009 snow mobile recalled with release# 10-705 for fire hazard.
He purchased this snow mobile in January 2014 from Spicer’s Boat City in Michigan and had only one issue when the clutch burned up during the first 200 miles of use. This was repaired.
January 10th, 2016 the caller had been riding for approximately one hour when while riding in Sugar Springs, Michigan he noticed that he was low on fuel so he went to station and refilled his fuel.
About fifteen minutes after leaving the gas station the snow mobile stalled at approximately 50 mph and he looked down to see flames coming up between his legs which caused him to pull over and began packing the area with snow to extinguish the flames.
A passerby came with a shovel and then a fire extinguisher but they still couldn’t put the fire out.
There was some smoke inhalation but caller states that he is fine and that there are no injuries being reported.
He contacted the manufacturer January 11th, 2015 and he was advised that the legal department would be in touch with him.
He is waiting for their call.
