This report is about the IST Sports Corp. ProEar scuba diving mask.

The mask has 2 ear cups and 2 plastic tubes attached to the ear cups and to the top of the scuba mask. The tubes are attached to the mask via a screw and screw-nut mechanism.

I was snorkeling when one of the tubes became detached and the mask flooded with sea water. After inspecting the mask I realized one of the tube’s screw-nut had become unscrewed allowing the tube to detach. The mask flooded through the hole through which the tube is inserted into the mask. In a scuba diving situation at a deep depth this could be very dangerous and could lead to fatal consequences.

Upon contacting the seller of the mask they stated that they’ve had several costumers have the same problem with the mask. That they’ve notified IST Corp, but that IST Corp is only advising customers not to move the tubes on the mask too much.
