My Soeed Queen dryer melts my clothing even on delicate setting. I have had thermostat replaced 5-6 and replaced with new version that was supposed to solve the problem but hasnt. Speed Queen does nothing to help except continuously replacing the thermostat

Our products are built with multiple layers of thermal protection and undergo rigorous testing to ensure they operate safely under normal use conditions. The findings from the service visit indicate that this was not a product malfunction, and we are confident this matter has been fully addressed directly with the consumer. Our dryers are engineered with redundant thermal protection systems and are designed and tested to prevent unsafe overheating events and therefore, this issue does not pose a safety concern.
We were actively engaged with this consumer to resolve their reported issue; however, the unit is no longer in their possession for us to complete any further inspection and diagnosis. The product, in the report: Speed queen DR7004BE clothes dryer

We purchased a speed queen washer and dryer and have had an issue with the dryer getting so hot on the lowest setting that it continually burns and melts clothing. A local warranty repair company has come out several times and couldnt find any issues with the ventilation, this was a brand new home. The service technician did find that the dryer temperature was way too high on the lowest setting. Speed queen has refused to take any responsibility for their faulty product.

(3/12/2026) Alliance Laundry Systems LLC: Alliance Laundry Systems, manufacturer of Speed Queen appliances, takes product safety and consumer concerns very seriously. Our dryers are designed and tested to applicable safety standards and incorporate multiple redundant safety controls to prevent overheating. Of particular importance is ensuring that the exhaust system meets the specifications outlined in our Installation Guide. The maximum allowable duct length varies based on the number of 90-degree elbows present in the exhaust duct and the type of weather hood installed.
Consequently, we have reached out to the consumer to determine if the product meets the published specifications and ensure we are addressing their concerns. Our commitment to our consumers’ safety and satisfaction with our products remains a priority.

Brand new clothes dryer , dryer ran for hours and hours without the timer knob advancing in the first week of ownership. I had to manually stop the dryer and the clothes were very dry and very hot. The appliance company replaced it with the same model after their repairman easily reproduced the issue. They replaced the dryer with the same model and the new unit is having the same issue. The timer knob does not advance and the unit gets very hot, I am concerned about a fire starting as the dryer will not shut off by itself.

(4/22/2025) Alliance Laundry Systems LLC: Alliance Laundry Systems, the maker of Speed Queen residential appliances, is dedicated to producing high-quality products and takes consumer concerns very seriously. Our dryers are engineered and rigorously tested with multiple safety features to prevent overheating. However, after reviewing this incident report, it seems that our attempts to reach out to the consumer have not received a response. Our manufacturer’s warranty covers the repair or replacement of any components necessary to return the product to normal operation, if needed. An assessment by an authorized service provider is required to verify proper ventilation and usage as outlined in the User’s Guide. We remain committed to meeting our consumers’ needs and ensuring their satisfaction with our products.

Caller stated that the dryer does not power off it keeps running. There is a failure with the timer and it does not detect that the clothes is dry. He stated that the control cannot be turned anti clockwise or it breaks the timer. He stated that he has had it repaired 4 times already and they should be coming out for the 5th time. Caller feels that the dryer is a fire hazard and could cause a house fire.

Speed Queen has a known issue with the knobs on their dryers that leads to timer malfunction, resulting in the dryer remaining on indefinitely. Ive come home to find my dryer running 14+ hours. This is a well-known issue and is a tragedy waiting to happen. I cannot fathom that this dryer has not yet been recalled.

We moved into a new home with a Speed Queen dryer (model ade4brgs175tw01), and couldnt figure out why our dryer loads were sometimes running way longer than expected. On multiple occasions the dryer ran three or more hours before we realized it was still on, the clothes were extremely hot and the whole laundry room had gotten very warm. After some online research we learned this is a known design flaw: the timer knob turns bidirectionally, but turning it counterclockwise will break the timer for that cycle and the dryer will never turn itself off. There is no warning on the machine, and its a huge fire hazard. Speed queen should recall this machine and/or mail out a part that will prevent the timer knob from turning counterclockwise.

The product, in the report: clothes dryer

The consumer has a safety concern with how the dryer operates and that it could potentially cause a fire. The timer on the unit does not work properly. The dryer does not cut off after the time that is set. The consumer stated that this issue started happening within the first two months of him getting the dryer.
The consumer contacted the seller who then contacted the manufacturer about the issue. He was advised that the manufacturer is aware of the problem. He was told that if the knob is jostled a little bit, it can shut the timer down. That is why the dryer will continue to run.

Our dryers have multiple levels of protections to ensure that they operate safely. In the unlikely event of a timing or heating component malfunction, other components in the appliance are designed and tested to ensure safety and prevent a thermal event. The Speed Queen residential dryer thermal safety redundancy noted above includes a mechanical high limit thermostat, thermistor/controlling thermostat, and thermal fuse. Our thermal fuse is non-resetting which prevents the unit from heating until the thermal fuse can be replaced by a qualified service technician. Consequently, we do not believe there is a safety concern and are working with this consumer directly to ensure a proper diagnosis of this specific unit and if needed, a timely repair to ensure overall satisfaction.

My girlfriend put her sheets and throw blanket in the drier. I cleaned the lint trap, inserted the correct number of coins, and pressed start. When we came back an hour later, the drier showed “Out of order E SH”. The drier was still running. Opening the drier, the clothes were extremely hot. Had we not had a timer set, there was a risk of fire
