The product, in the report: DVE47CG3500V dryer in grey side load 7.4 cu ft
My dryer started smoking from the inside after, not even using it for a year. They blamed it on us not cleaning the dryer properly. Even though we changed the lint drawer every use and have changed the hose multiple times. They did not care and told me it would come out of pocket even though it was under warranty. They told me it was a fire underneath on the cords.

The product, in the report: This is a Samsung Pet Care Solution High Efficiency Impeller Extra Large ( 5.4-cu ft ) Top-Load Washer ( Brushed Navy ) This dryer has a faulty lint trap, after every cycle I have to reach into the space were the lint trap goes and collect the lint that didn’t go into the trap.
My drier caught on fire and the firefighters determined it was the drive belt that caught on fire, When Samsung came to investigate they said it was our fault because lint had entered the machine. We are obsessive about cleaning the lint trap but out does a terrible job.

Samsung dryer, model # DVE52A5500W/A3 caught fire inside a residence. The homeowner purchased the dryer and had it installed by Lowe’s in March 2025. The fire was contained to the insode of the dryer and appears to have ignited in the area of the thermal cut-off on the heating element. There was no interior damage to the structure and no injuries. The dryer was in use at the time of the incident. No previous issues were reported by the homeowner.

No one hurt Made Nov 5, 2024, sent to the company Jan 29, 2025, published by CPSC Feb 12, 2025
The product, in the report: Clothes dryer
The consumer heard an odd noise from time to time from the clothes dryer, as if there was a shoe or dryer ball inside of it. However, the dryer continued to work properly.
10/19/2024: The dryer made a popping sound and emitted smoke, along with a burning odor. She initially thought something had fallen in the laundry room.
The consumer found that the dryer had stopped working and plenty of smoke emitted from the top where are the control dials were. The consumer immediately unplugged it from the wall outlet.
Next, she called the fire department, non-emergency number. The firemen checked the dryer and did not see visible damage and it did not feel hot to the touch. They advised her to keep it unplugged.
She called an electrician, who came and opened the voltage box. That area of the dryer had substantial burn damage.
There were no injuries.
Samsung sent a technician on 11/12/2024 to assess the smoke and burn damage. Only a repair was authorized by corporate. I declined this offer. I would not repair a dryer that (1) had substantial dark black burning on inside parts and wires, (2) that had a strong burn smell, (3) that spread smoke to surrounding walls, and (4) resulted in a call to the fire department. The burned dryer, chord, and vent were disposed of and replaced with a new Brand of dryer.

The product, in the report: Samsung Dryer
Hi there,
I have tried to.get somewhere with Samsung for 5 years at least. We bought what is to us, our dream home in 2016. In 2018 we saved up enough money to buy new appliances. ALL new appliances. We were struck by thr beauty and innovation of Samsung as well as we liked their TVs and Phones.
1. The dryer: the first dryer was deemed a lemon after 3 service calls. We got a new dryer. Within 2 years the dryer started eating our clothes and then maze a terrible sound. Techncican fire coded it and we were told to not use it. So we bought a new [REDACTED] dryer.
2. I bought the black stainless steel. All of my kitchen appliances are peeling.
[REDACTED]
You know what is the saddest thing about all of this? I’m a professional cleaner and I clean my machines habitually. No one has a cleaner fridge or dishwasher, or washer and dryer (my oven needs work).
We spent almost 6,000 and will have to buy new dishwasher and refrigerator and I KNOW that washer is crippling out any day.
Please. PLEASE allow a refund for my family. There are THOUSANDS of people with KNOWN issues over and over and are getting the run around. It’s not right

I put a load of clothes from the washer to the dryer, started the dryer on normal dry and a few minutes later, my said he smelled something. After looking all over, checking throughout the house, I went to the laundry room and it was filled with smoke. My husband unplugged the dryer after realizing that was the issue, removed the top control panel and found it was starting to ignite. The inside of the control panel was black and melted wires and various other components. The dryer is a Samsung DV456EWHDSU/AA, SERIAL NO. Y6OA5AECC00878T. There was no personal injury, clothing has strong smoke smell, along with the house. Fortunately we were inside and not outside, otherwise this could have escalated and we could have lost everything.

The product, in the report: 7.5-cu ft stackable electric dryer (white) energy star item. This item was used to dry clothing for a family of 3.
I purchased this Samsung dryer model # DVE45M5500W to dry my family’s clothing. My husband and I heard a thumping noise and immediately checked it out. We removed the clothing from the dryer and noticed a crack in the drum. I am so thankful that I did not reach directly into the crack otherwise a serious injury could have occurred. After researching this issue, it states that using the damaged drum could increase the chance of a fire. Again, thank goodness I heard the noise and identified the damage before either a fire or an injury occurred. I contacted Samsung about the crack in my dryer’s drum and they will not recognize this as an issue. My dryer was purchased two years ago, it is 7.5 cu. ft. dryer. We are a family of 3, it should easily handle a simple load of laundry. Samsung told me it occurred due to normal wear and tear. Not an excuse for a high priced item.

The product, in the report: Samsung dryer model DVE54M8750W/A3 purchased November 2017 at Home Depot in Johns Creek, Georgia.
Samsung dryer model DVEG54M8750 purchased November 2017 and 6 months out of warranty. Dryer developed a knocking sound that gradually increased in volume over about a year. A few days ago, some clothes hung up on (approximately) 1/8” shard of sharp metal sticking into the dryer area. Removing the clothes from this metal I noticed a crack in the drum on what appears to be a weld seam. The crack appears to be growing, is allowing heat to escape outside the drum, is sharp and an obvious concern for safety. Additionally, the dryer is damaging clothes.

The product, in the report: Samsung Dryer Serial Number - OAHY58BH402194N, Model Number- DV48J7700EW/A2
Samsung Dryer - Serial Number - OAHY5BBH402194N, Model Number - DV48J7700EW/A2 I purchased this dryer in late 2016 and used it very little as I’m a single home owner. When using the dryer I heard strange noises coming from the dryer drive and as time went on the noise was greater and greater. This brought great concern on my part. As I continued to use my dryer l started to smelt a burning coming from the dryer. At that time I pulled the electrical cord from the electrical supply outlet. I then began to disassemble the dryer to find the problem. After further search I found that the idle tension pulley assembly was damaged and the drum support rollers(2) were hot (lack of lubrication). I ordered the part from Sears (Order No.-W528157 total $127.62 plus 1.5 hrs. of my labor) This could have started a fire in my home and caused considerable amount damaged to my home. I would like to be reimbursed for my cost and labor. But mostly this issue should be reported to Samsung so they can take correct action on this items issues. Thank You [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: White with black door Samsung Dryer. Model DV45K7600E(G).
A Samsung Dryer which is only 18 months old, and purchased new, almost caused a fire in my wash room. The dryer had been working normal but lately, now and them started to make a squeeking noise. It would come and go. Well last week the dryer would not work, it would only click when I tried to turn it on. Called Samsung, they walked me through some steps, nothing worked. They said to contact their repair center, no luck, so I called Sears repair who came out the same day and they found where the Idler bracket roller bearing had locked up and the idler puller was still trying to turn the dryer drum. What shocked me was the idler pulley had melted on both sides and looked like it could/if not caught on fire. If there was a lot of lint, it could have burnt the dryer or my house. Luckly we clean the lint filter out all the time.
My main concern besides the idler pulley melting is the fact that this dryer was only 18 months old.
I have the parts that were taken off.

The submitter said he then sent the firm an email informing them of the incident and he has not received a response as of today.
The submitter indicated that he plans to repair the unit himself. The submitter said he had a similar fire incident with the unit a few months ago and he replaced the element himself.

The product, in the report: Samsung front loading dryer.
Samsung dryer drum splits. Have had it fixed three times. Samsung denies there is an issue with their drum but thousands of reports and blogs say they all have the same issue of splitting. Longer dry cycles could cause fires.. Seams come apart in drum creating potential fire hazard and mechanical thumping making dryer not efficient. This is a fire safety and health and security issue of paramount importance. Homes could burn down. Samsung continues to not acknowledge there is a problem. Only resolution is Samsung to pay to put in a drum that does not crack. Consumers should not have to make repairs due to a known manufacturing gross error.

The Washer (Model # WA48H7400AW/A2) (Serial # )BHH5AUGA04177L) was recalled by CPSC and today my washer was registered with Samsung and verified as on the recall listing. Approximately two weeks ago the accompanying clothes dryer (Model # DV48H7400EW/A2) (SERIAL # )AHM5BBGA04598P) began to vibrate and shake excessively as soon as the start button was pushed. The noise and shaking impress that machine parts may separate. I am therefore unable to use the machine given a question of safety. The problem was reported to Samsung today. The operator asked that I turn the machine on and place my cell phone so that she could hear the noise. I was given an extension on my warranty to have the machine repaired. The warranty extension was offered without my request leading me to believe that the company was already aware of and not willing to admit to a defect thus offering the opportunity for repair. The company is scheduling repairs but the machine may need to be recalled and I ask for your consideration to determine if recall is needed.

The product, in the report: Samsung White Dryer Model # DV48J7700GW/A2
At 3:30am dog woke us, whining and sniffing the air. Realized there was the smell of fire coming from garage, and discovered smell of burnt electronics and hair coming from dryer. Wiring & hair smell so bad it filled the house & triggered wife’s asthma. Called Samsung, they sent repair tech under warranty (owned less than a year). Tech confirmed fire had started due to buildup of lint leaking into body of dryer and covering the motor. Said it was due to design flaw, and would likely happen again even if repaired (we cleaned lint trap after every load, but very little else was venting out through duct, was going inside unit instead). Told Samsung we did not want this unit in our house anymore causing another fire, they claimed the damaged parts were repairable and would do nothing about the design flaw causing lint accumulation inside. Told them smell of burned wiring and/or hair made clothes & carpet throughout house smell, the “Executive Customer Service Rep” said I had to send pictures of the smell to be considered for reimbursement (how?), and rudely hung up on me when he was finished.

The product, in the report: Samsung Dryer Caught Fire
I am the unfortunate benefactor of a Samsung dryer that recently caught fire. It filled the whole of the house up with smoke and did damage to the laundry room. I called the fire station and they removed the dryer outside, shut off the gas line and inspected the dryer.
It appears that the dryer ignition switch caught fire. More concerning was there was lint inside the machine where you can not clean regularity. Both my wife and I clean the lint screen after every use. In addition I would also clean the back exhaust pipe and have a lint remover that attaches to my vacuum, which I would use to clean the lint trap when the screen was removed.
In dealing with Samsung, they had a technician come to inspect the dryer. In his own words he said that this should NEVER happen and was shocked at the damage to the unit. He took multiple pictures of the unit and dismantled the dryer to see the source of the fire.
It appears the ignition switch started the fire. We also noticed lint within the machine where it is simply impossible to clean, unless you were to completely dismantle the unit.
After dealing with Samsung for the last two weeks with this issue, I got a call today in which they stated that the cause of the fire was a dirty lint trap and that they are not responsible for the cause of the fire.
I can tell you that the lint trap is completely free of lint, as I was diligent in its cleaning. It is very concerning and I fear that this particular model may have a inherent design flaw, and would hate to see other people experience this or worse lose property………... or life.
What can I do to move forward into getting a second opinion on this issue, as I feel Samsung is simple not taking responsibility for their product.
In addition not only is the dryer concerning, but I just finished paperwork for a matching washer that is on recall. I had to go out and buy a new washer, fill out paperwork and wait to get reimbursed. This does nothing but raise my suspicion on the safety of their dryers.

The product, in the report: Samsung model DV56H9100EG/A2 platinum grey clothes dryer
Have been using a high end Samsung dryer for approximately 2 years, and the stainless steel drum has developed a severe laceration hazard. The drum has fractured at the weld about 3-4 inches long and multiple sharp protruding edges. While there have been no injuries past the extent of a small laceration, I have a small child that loves to assist with laundry, potentially risking serious injury. Samsung is making me replace the drum out of warranty, despite the very searchable facts that this is a common enough issue that a quick search for Samsung dryer drum fracture returns hundreds of results. There is thankfully only minor injuries and only damaged clothing at this point, however this prevents an investigation recall from the government. What, if any, action can I pursue due to a serious injury inducing manufacturing defect?

The product, in the report: Samsung front load dryer, white.
My Samsung dryer model DV350AEW/XAA has torn along the seam/weld. The torn area of the metal is very sharp, and clothing snagged on it and then was pulled through the broken seam and into the inner area of the dryer. Clothing was ripped and blackened. After looking online, this seems to be a very common defect. The loose seam and the tear allows clothing, dryer sheets, lint, etc. to go into and collect inside areas of the dryer that could create a fire hazard. In addition, the sharp edges pose a cutting threat.

The product, in the report: 7.3 cubic feet Samsung front loader dryer
Purchased what I thought was a top of the line product, Samsung 7.3 cf front loader dryer. Smelled smoke, went into laundry room and saw alot of smoke coming from dryer. Here the cabinet of dryer was full of lint which somehow ignited. We clean out lint filter after every use and clean vents frequently. Have made many calls to Samsung and have received no help at all. Lucky we were home and awake at time, could have been a devastating event for our family and home. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT. Dryer is only a few years old. Samsung only will say it’s out of warranty. This is a SAFETY issue!! They did give me a number to call to have someone come “assess the liability”of fire. Called them and all they did was try to pressure me into buying a warranty for $193.99 that I had to buy “right now”. Called Samsung yet again only to be given another number of another company. What a run around and waste of time. They will not admit severity of situation. I’ll be contacting a lawyer. Meanwhile we have a $1300 piece of useless metal in our home and are making trips to the laundry mat to dry our clothing.

The product, in the report: Samsung Dryer
Three and 1/2 years after I purchased a Samsung dryer, the heating unit failed. While having the dryer repaired under warranty, massive amounts of lint were found everywhere in the interior parts of the dryer (enough to jam a vacuum cleaner twice), including burned lint inside and near the heating unit. If the heating unit did not burn out, I believe the lint would have eventually ignited, causing a dryer fire and possibly, severe property damage and loss of life.

The product, in the report: Samsung Clothes Dryer model # DV328AEW/XAA
This clothes dryer is a definite fire hazard. I have had to take this dryer apart at least 6 times in the last two years to remove literally a full inch of lint that has accumulated inside the dryer cabinet and on top of and inside of the heating element. The lint in and on the heater element has been burned/chared and I have been extremely lucky that I have not had an actual fire in my home. The design is flawed and someone will eventually lose their home or their lives if this product continues to be sold. I called Samsung rep and there was nothing they would do for me except to blame it on my installation. We have had two other dryers in my home over the years and installed in the same location. Never had a problem like this before. VERY DANGEROUS PRODUCT!!!

The product, in the report: Samsung DV328AA-XAA
I have a Samsung DV328AA-XAA clothes dryer. A nickel coin found it’s way into the housing for the heater coil. It shorted the coil out and basically spot welded itself to the housing and the coil.
I feel this is a fire safety hazard.
I reported this to Samsung and included a digital photograph (which I can share).
Samsung to date has not responded to my alert.
