I purchased the Kenmore Oasis elite clothes dryer in 2006. It has caught on fire three separate times. First time was last year 2013 in February. The smell of burning chemicals and the lint actually caught paper on fire under the dryer and scorched the travertine. Sears came out and vacuumed out the burnt lint and said that was it. nothing was repaired or replaced at that time.Then 3 months ago it caught on fire again the toxic chemical smell ruined all my clothes ruined the smell of my entire house! did not call him out again because he didn’t do anything the first time then it just caught on fire again this month June 2014 and I had to call the fire department because the smell was so bad and it wouldn’t stop. When the repairman came out this time he said that there is a sensor in the dryer that is not shutting off and so it continues to heat until the exterior of the dryer was so hot we could not touch it. The fire department told me I can no longer use the dryer unless it’s replaced because now its a danger to all of my neighbors in my building who could potentially die from this fire. How many times does this dryer need to catch on fire before somebody is killed. The repairman has ordered parts that keep showing up on my doorstep yet I still do not have a repaired dryer and I do not feel like you can’t even repair it because it is so damaged and burned. How am I supposed to trust that it will not catch on fire again.I can’t get the smell out of the metal it’s disgusting. This also by the way has nothing to do with Lint where the lint trap because I had it professionally cleaned all through the walls and there is nothing in there it is 100% the dryers fault. so now sears when it catches on fire again and myself Or my children or the old lady upstairs dies this is your fault.there have been numerous complaints about this particular dryer and this is a safety matter that could potentially kill 45 people that live in my building. this is not just about it not working properly. Also I have 3 children and I have not had a washer and dryer functioning for over 6 weeks. I am going crazy! I also purchased at Sears because you had a good reputation and my grandmother had your washer and dryer for 20 years so I said let’s go to Sears they make the best washer and dryers obviously I was very very Wrong!!!!
