The product, in the report: White LG ThinQ Sensor Dryer with steam cycles
I was using the steam function on my LG dryer and it started leaking on the floor. After switching the hose, which I thought was the problem, it was still leaking. After taking a part off the back, I saw that the hose inside the dryer that runs up the unit was pressed against a hot element, causing the hose to split making water leak down the back of the unit, causing water to pour down along electrical cords in the back of the dryer. There is also a significant build up of hard water deposits on the back as well as the cracked hose.

The product, in the report: Dryer
The consumer indicates that that the pipes of his dryer do not couple correctly as there is a space between them so lint will build up and create a serious fire hazard. The unit has two females parts, which creates a major leakage at the exhaust. The consumer notes that it is only a matter of using the correct pipe to address the hazard.
The consumer contacted the manufacturer and explained the situation; the representative he spoke to informed him that the physical defect has no remedy so they would not be assisting him.
The consumer states that the unit was used four times.
The consumer will not be keeping his dryer for at least the next thirty days as he will be returning it.

The product, in the report: LG Dryer WT7600 HKA purchased from Best Buy their sku 1002-052-555 Ref # S0404 $799
LG dryer lint filter screen does not fit snugly into the opening, either the curved handle does not conform to the curved dryer area or the filter does not sit all the way down making it rock from side to side instead of fitting and allowing lint to go all the way to the heat element creating a fire hazard as now the error message reads ‘clean filter’ when there is little or no lint on the screen even following a full load of clothing. A full dryer cycle cannot be reached without scraping off a teaspoons worth of lint many times each cycle. I am afraid the reason this is occurring is because lint has passed beyond the unfitting lint screen into a place where it cannot be removed.

No one hurt Made Aug 30, 2022, sent to the company Sep 14, 2022, published by CPSC Sep 28, 2022
The product, in the report: “Steam” Clothes Dryer
Dryer fire. The accumulated lint in the bottom of an electric LG clothes dryer ignited. The resident referred to the dryer as a “steam” dryer. While this event occurred in an LG dryer, it is not a brand-specific problem. It is a design and possibly an installation problem. The dryer was mounted on top of a matching base assembly. The dryer was vented with watertight flexible tubbing, which was attached to the dryer with foil-style tape. The resident stated that the dryer was 4-6 years old, and the lint trap was removed and cleaned after every load. The dryer had a cold water connection and was connected to the home’s cold water system. The dryer was installed in a space which caused the vent hose to drop down from the dryer connection, turn in a 180 degree arc, travel up the wall to the exterior vent point. Additionally, the dryer lint trap was removed and vacuumed on occasion. It was reported that an overheating light had come on within the last few months and shut down the dryer several times. On 8/30/2022, while drying a load of clothes, the resident smelled something burning and noticed light smoke escaping from the lint trap. The first arriving engine disconnected the water line and the flexible vent tubbing to remove the dryer from the structure. During this process, they noticed that the flexible vent tubbing contained a large amount of water. Fire cause: As the vent discharge point of the dryer was approximately 12-14 inches above the ground (the dryer was mounted on a raised base), the 180-degree bend in the hose (as it went up the wall) formed a “U” shaped “water trap. Over time, steam exiting from the dryer condensed on the sides of the flexible exhaust tubbing and filled the bend to a point where airflow was blocked. The water filled “horseshoe” bend prevented air from exiting through the dryer vent tube. The foil tape allowed the “trapped” back pressure air to flow into the base of the dryer where a considerable accumulation of lint build up on the floor of the dryer and top of the solid vent pipe inside the dryer. As regular airflow was blocked, back pressure air and “normal” discharge air caused the base of the dryer compartment to overheat. The solid vent pipe inside the dryer was heating from outflow air and from the blocked air that was returning to the base of the dryer. While the specific point of ignition is unknown, fire effects and fire patterns indicated it was on top of the solid vent pipe inside the dryer’s back wall.

The product, in the report: clothes dryer
The consumer has a safety concern that the product could potentially cause a fire because the filter on the dryer is broken.
(06/2020)The consumer first noticed an issue with the filter when checking to see why dried clothes removed from the dryer were torn. When he checked the dryer, he noticed that the filter was broken and clothes were getting caught in the filter. Also, lint is getting pass the filter which is, potentially, a fire hazard.
The consumer has contacted the firm many times since June, 2020, the last time being December 14, 2021. The firm continues to ask for information on the product which the consumer has provided but nothing is being done about getting the filter repaired.

The product, in the report: LG Dryer DLEX7600KE Dark Grey. Purchased July 2017. Made in Korea. Only date I could find was stamped on a part 02/02/2017
I have owned an LG drier (DLEX7600KE) since July 2017. It has been well maintained and vacuumed deep down monthly as recommended. Last night I noticed smoke a few minutes after turning it on and discovered that there was fire in the dryer. We had to take apart the entire machine to find where the fire had originated. There was lint in the front right corner of the cabinet and around the heating element. These parts of the machine are completely inaccessible for an owner to maintain and there is no mention in the manual that the machine needs to be dismantled to clean heating coils. I believe this dryer was completely defective in some manner and could have caused a major fire. Thankfully I had not left the laundry room yet and caught it before it had spread to the house. I have photos of all the places of damage within the fire. I just wanted to let you know so you can have a record of the incident and issue a recall or look into the matter further. This could have been a major tragedy.

My LG Dryer Model DLEX7800WE, which I purchase in September 2020, continues to tumble clothing when I open the door during Wrinkle Care. When I reported that and sensor drying not working properly, the customer service rep replied that I should turn off the dryer! I explained that dryer drums should stop rotating when the door is open, and a safety recall should be issued.

The product, in the report: LG Tru Steam Dryer.
I put a load of laundry in the dryer and had forgotten about it. When I went back at least 3 hours later the dryer was still running. The cycle had run and the display was off but the drum was still spinning and drying. I opened the door and it stopped but as soon as I closed the door, the dryer turned on again. I had to unplug it to stop the dryer from running. I do not want to plug it back in for fear of it coming back on and running all night. This is a fire hazard. I went to the product website and several others are having the same issue. The company wants me to pay for a service call, when this is obviously a defective part in their dryers.

I own an LG Dryer S/N: 011KWNM00599 Model: DLGX3876V
The lint filter on my LG Dryer is defective and a safety hazard. When I run my dryer, clothes get caught and twisted around the lint filter. I phoned LG Customer Service at 1-800-243-0000 a number of times and they confirmed that the lint filter is a common problem and that they are aware consumers are having this same issue. I explained that the clothing getting caught and twisted on the lint filter is a fire and safety hazard. They said there is nothing they can do to help me. I tried replacing the lint filter with a new one and the same issue is occurring. Clearly the lint filter is defective, the LG Company is aware of this and aren’t willing to fix this problem, even being aware of the safety hazard of this defective part. I spoke with a supervisor [REDACTED] [REDACTED] and let her know I am making a complaint to the consumer products safety commission. My family’s safety is at risk. My phone number is [REDACTED] My email is: [REDACTED] Would someone please help me with this. Thank you, [REDACTED]

No one hurt Made Jul 24, 2014, sent to the company Aug 6, 2014, published by CPSC Aug 20, 2014
The product, in the report: washer dryer stacking kit; 4 pieces of metal designed to be attached to the washing machine so that the legs of the dryer stacked on it don’t slide off (it vibrates and needs to be held securely and currently it is not)
I purchased a washer, dryer and stacking kit from Sears in June 2014. It was delivered and installed. I noticed thereafter that the ‘kit’ that is designed to prevent the dryer from falling off of the washer that there was really nothing stopping the dryer from vibrating off of the washer because the stacking kit was either too long or installed incorrectly. The manufacturer for each piece is LG. I read in the manufacturer book that it is very dangerous to operate the machines unless the legs are enclosed by the stacking kit. However, this is not the case. Sears sent out on 4 occasions some technical staff to evaluate the situation and they all told me there is nothing to worry about and “who told you there was something wrong with this installation?” or “who told you this is the wrong stacking piece?”. I contacted LG who sent a technician who photographed the units and agreed with me that it seemed dangerous and either the wrong part or a faulty installation, but since LG only service the machines, they would not correct what Sears had done or comment on it further. I need the machines for medical reasons due to a skin condition. Thus it has been a pressing issue to resolve this unsafe situation. Anyone who has a stacking kit installed by Sears on their LG washing machines are risking life and limb because again, and I can’t stress this enough....the dryer can topple over from vibration because either the stacking kit was manufactured incorrectly or the installation was done incorrectly, and neither Sears nor LG want to accept responsibility. They just blame each other. Sears say that it’s LG’s part and that it’s my imagination that something’s wrong, and LG say that they don’t get involved in installation issues and won’t confirm or deny the part is the correct one or not. By phone, LG admitted to me that their part is manufactured too long, but once I mentioned a possible recall situation, a supervisor was put on the phone and said that they would not comment on it. LG have photos and Sears have photos. Neither will do anything to make sure that the operation of these machines can be done safely. They could not care less if it hurts a kid or falls over. I have given them ample opportunity to address and fix the situation and they refuse. Finally Sears said they would just come and pick everything up and charge me a restocking fee, which I refused. I need these machines to function as advertised, and the stacking kit which is featured on their website as a recommended purchase for safety reasons needs to be addressed. I can’t motivate them to do anything else at this point and I’m afraid that as they currently are, they are extremely dangerous as the dryer weighs hundreds of pounds.

The product, in the report: Dryer
Caller purchased her dryer in September 2006, she didn’t notice any problems with it until around 2009 when it began being much hotter than necessary.
She is reporting that her dryer that is not recalled is running at temperatures high enough to have at times burned her clothing and has blackened the vent in the back of the dryer.
No matter what setting she uses (which lately is the smart selection) however if she sets it to only five minutes the clothes are too hot to enable touching them.
She would like this dryer inspected and recalled and would request a complete repair at manufacturer expense.

The product, in the report: Dryer
12/2010) The consumer stated that he had put on a load of clothes in the dryer. Approximately 10 to 15 minutes he started smelling something burning. He noticed that the unit was overheating and immediately powered off the unit and unplugged it. Later when he retrieved his clothes he noticed that they were burnt. The consumer has black scorched marks on his wall and the rear of the dryer.
(12/2010) The manufacturer was contacted and a Rep. (name unknown) advised him that there was nothing that could do about it.
The consumer was unable to use his dryer since 2010. He heard about the Release #12-251. After calling the recall hotline he was informed that his serial did not fall within the range, but they would send out a tech to diagnose the unit at a cost to him.
