we bought a Kenmore dryer at a sears outlet. the date is 11/08/2014 we have used this dryer for a little over 2 years,we moved from [REDACTED] to [REDACTED] we used the dryer 1 time my wife said and it got so hot that we had to unplug it to let it cool down. when it cooled down we plugged it in and it would not work.i ask around what would make it not start up and was told it could be the thermal fuse. i ordered the part and when i took off the back plate on the dryer the wiring harness and the connection inside the dryer was burnt off.there had to be a fire inside the dryer. i called sears to see if this was part of a recall and to see if they could help us in the repair of the dry. they said we could pay for the repairman and any parts they would need to repair it. so this is my next step, to contact you and see if this has happened to other customers which is a concern , did others have the same issue and what help can we get to address the issue. model number is 11061402311 THANK YOU [REDACTED] [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Kenmore stack able dryer model # 417.88042700

To whom it may concern, On 11/08/2016 I was woken up by a loud explosion sound at 3am. After looking around, I realized my dryer had caught fire. There is a terrible smell from an electrical fire which I can’t get rid of. I am very lucky my 16 year old daughter woke me up or my whole condo would have burnt to the ground. This unit is a Stackable dryer from Sears with model # 417.88042700. I would imagine Sears and Kenmore should be notified and responsible for replacing my dryer. I am scared to have the unit repaired, as this might be an ongoing issue. I need to know what to do and how to go about getting the unit replaced. I have multiple pictures which indicate where the fire came from. If you would like a copy, I would be happy to email them to you. I need a response as soon as possible; not having a dryer is a huge problem. Thank you

The product, in the report: Kenmore Dryer Model 110-76962501, Serial No. MS2804698

I own a Kenmore dryer Model No. 110-76962501, Serial No. MS2804698. It was working fine until last Monday, July 25, 2016 when I opened the door prior to the end of the cycle (something I frequently do). I went to grab a piece of clothing so it wouldn’t over dry and the dryer didn’t stop but pulled my arm into it. I was injured and thought I had broken my arm. I have a huge bruise on my left arm near my elbow. I was in pain for two days.

I telephoned Sears corporate on July 28 2016 to report it as a safety hazard (1-800-479-6351) and was told by [REDACTED] that she spoke to her supervisor who said they can arrange for a repair but I would have to pay for it. I went on to explain it was a safety issue and felt the machine should stop working if something like this breaks.

Please help to assist in this matter. Thank you.

The product, in the report: Standard Kenmore Dryer Series 80

This dryers outside skin on the lower left near the burner, reaches over 175 degrees routinely when the dryer is operating. It has intermitantly reached 200 degrees. Sears has sent two technicians out and neither has corrected the concern. Now Sears has stopped answering my e-mails and is ignoring my attempts to contact them. The Model number is 110.72802101. It is a series 80. It was purchased in 2003 and has no problem drying clothes. This dryer has been properly maintaned as noted by both Sears technicians. The paint is not discoloring so if you didnt ever touch the dryer in the lower left area, you would never know there is a problem. My concern is that there are probably many more dryers out there like this with the same concern and the owner not aware of it. I am told Whirpool is the manufacturer but two attempts to get Whirlpool to do something have resulted in me being told that I will have to deal with Sears.

The product, in the report: Kenmore model # 417-94042500 Front load (white) dryer.

I have a Kenmore Dryer Model # 417 94042500 new since 12-8-06 with no problems until last night when a fire broke out inside the unit. After extinguishing the fire through the front lint opening, I removed the unit and pleaced it outside. I pulled off the back panel and view the cause of the fire. A spec or techinical sheet (paper) was taped to the inside of the dryer by manufacturing. The tape and paper had worked itself away from the side of the dryer and must have rested against the burner/vent housing, which casued the paper to start on fire. I was very thaknful we were at home when this started. I called Kenmore customer Care and I was dissatisified with their response of the unit is “out of warranty” and I will have to pay for a tech. to come out and service it. Clearly this is a manufacturing issue of the assembler placing the paper close to the burner/vent housing. This is not your normal warranty issue>it was casued by poor placement of the paperwork inside this unit! I have a picture of the inside paperwork (which Kenmore was not even interensted in seeing) that caught on fire.
