The product, in the report: Frigidaire Dryer Model Number (FAQG7077KA0) Serial Number (4D02300523) color (silver gray)
On Sunday, May 15 at approximately 5:00 pm, we used our Frigidaire Dryer Model Number (FAQG7077KA0) Serial Number (4D02300523) and it caught on fire. There was minimal clothes inside the dryer. Dryer lint vent was cleaned before usage. Sparks were seen inside the dryer, then dryer inside caught on fire. The dryer was disconnected, and pulled out of the house, to be hosed down in the backyard to diminish the fire. Luckily, due to the fast action of removing the dryer, there was no one hurt or there was no damage done onto the house. I first called my homeowners insurance company, [REDACTED], to file a claim. Emailed pictures of the melted dryer, model number & serial number sticker, and cleared outbound vent holes. On Tuesday, May 19 morning, I called Electrolux/Frigidaire Customer Service phone line 1-800-374-4432. I explained to the customer support specialist that our dryer caught on fire. They recorded the case and re-routed to Risk Management. They explained Risk Management would call me the next day. On Wednesday, May 20 at 10:53 am, Risk Management technician [REDACTED] called me from [REDACTED]. She asked me details of the incident. And after listening, explained no help can be provided if there was no was bodily injury or property damage. She further directed that I would need to call the customer engagement line to get support. On Wednesday, May 20 at 12:22 pm, I called Frigidaire customer engagement/service line and explained the fire incident, and was told that I would be offer at best a 10% rebate off retail value of the next Frigidaire dryer. There was nothing I can do to file a defect or safety complaint. I would also not be offered a replacement dryer without defect.
I am requesting for (1) an official record that this model of Frigidaire dryer has a critical safety defect, and (2) a full replacement for an equivalent non-defective and safe dryer.

The product, in the report: Electric clothes dryer
Our Frigidaire dryer caught fire on August 9 2017 despite rigorous, regular cleaning of the lint trap. It appears that lint accumulated underneath the drum of the machine where we could neither see nor remove it.
Some online research suggested this is a recurring problem:

The product, in the report: Dryer portion of an all in one washer/dryer unit
This caller is reporting that he was at his daughter’s home when the repair tech came to inspect and possibly repair the dryer portion of her all in one washer/dryer unit. This caller’s daughter had scheduled the inspection after she saw sparks coming from the dryer and the electricity had blinked once when she turned the dryer on. The repair tech advised the caller that his daughter’s dryer may have some missing screws because they had been having problems with other washers. The father found one screw then the repair tech found where another was missing. The repair tech proceeded to advise the caller that if anyone had tried to turn the unit off while they had wet clothing on then they could have not been able to detach themselves from the electrical current. The tech will return to repair the unit. There are no injuries to report The caller has contacted the manufacturer and spoke at first with [REDACTED] who transferred him to [REDACTED] who took note of this caller’s statements regarding his daughter’s unit and said she would forward to Quality Assurance.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Affinity front load dryer, white, on pedestal base
While my 8 year old Fridgedaire Affinity dryer was being used on the normal, low heat setting, a loud noise came from the dryer (presumably from the drum motor coming to an abrupt stop). The control panel lights all began to flash on and off and the dryer made a loud buzzing sound. The laundry room began to fill with smoke and the first signs of fire could be observed behind the control panel. Eventually, the flames melted the front of the control panel, and flames began shooting out the front of the dryer. My husband turned off the breaker, unplug the dryer, and drag it out of the house before it could ignite anything else on fire. He then put out the fire with a fire extinguisher. The fire was electronic in nature and had nothing to do with any lint accumulation.

The product, in the report: Clothes Dryer
Dryer purchased November29, 2008 from Lowe’s. Caller is reporting that on Friday, May 24th, 2013, his dryer DOM- unknown caught fire.
The lint trap had been cleaned before use and the dryer had been running between 30 and 40 minutes when the caller heard his smoke detector’s sounding. He began to search for source, found the dryer with smoke and flames a few inches high coming out of the control panel. There was only about a medium load of clothes in the dryer. Caller called 911 for the fire department. Then he used his fire extinguisher, and turned the circuit breaker off. Caller is reporting this appliance as a severe fire hazard due to belief that if he had started the dryer and left his home or gone outside around his home then it may have burned. Caller spoke with manufacturer around May 28th, rep adised him that the unit was no longer under warranty to which the replied that as a rule a consumer doesn’t think about the units catching fire. Caller has had the dryer repaired at his own cost of $425.00 and he is asking for reimbursement at manufacturer expense. There are no injuries being reported.
