The product, in the report: Model Number: EFME627UIW1 Serial Number: 4D92904481 Product: Clothes Dryer

During normal household operation, an exposed lip on the lint screen housing snagged clothing, dislodging the screen and pulling the load into the chute, completely jamming the drum. The motor remained powered under locked rotor load and internal motor overload switches and thermal cutoffs failed to trip. Friction burned the drive belt and filled the home with heavy smoke. The hazard was mitigated solely by the homeowner manually killing main electrical panel breakers. Frontline support and Executive Customer Care have failed to respond to Safety Incident Case [REDACTED].

The product, in the report: A home clothes dryer.

This has been happening for several years. It happened again recently and I thought to report it. It came to mind again yesterday when the washing machine we bought at the same time caused a flood in our laundry room and basement that we are waiting for a repair man to come and take ea look at. These appliances have been a constant and ongoing NIGHTMARE. They’ve been garbage. Our Electrolux clothing dryer has on many occasions had the lint screen pop out of it’s spot in the dryer during the drying cycle. It pops out and then the opening gets filled with items of clothing. I came to this website to see if it has been recalled thinking surely it had and I do not see where it has. I’m so surprised we haven’t had a fire. We dont use the dryer when we are not home (set it and leave--we don’t do it) and I pay attention when the dryer is going. If i hear a BANG BANG BANG thenI know that the lint screen has popped out and is bouncing around inside the dryer.

The product, in the report: Electrolux white clothes dryer, stacked on Electrolux washer.

Electrolux dryer model EFME627UIW bought 6 years ago caused a smell of fire in our home. The technician that came to repair it, removed the top panel which was burnt and found that the control and wiring harness had burned. This appliance malfunction could have potentially caused a fire in our home and it poses a fire hazard to consumers. It is important to note that we are diligent in maintaining the dryer and take care to remove lint after every cycle to ensure proper functioning and safety. The dryer was used by myself at that time, with a normal cycle selected and a normal load of clothes, as usually done in our home. Fortunately, there were no injuries or damages beyond the dryer itself, which was deemed too costly to repair.

The product, in the report: White Electrolux Dryer

We have an Electrolux dryer. It started getting noisy when we used it so we took it apart and the motor is full of lint. The lint trap does not work effectively and lint is continually getting stuck in the motor. This must be a fire hazard. After researching online it seems other people with this model are having the same problem. I called Electrolux and they wouldnt do anything about it.

The product, in the report: Electrolux 8 cu ft capacity dryer

We purchased a dryer in DEC 2019. An Electrolux 8 cu ft dryer (Model EFME627UTT0). While using the dryer in a regular cycle t hi is week we heard a loud bang followed by smoke and noxious fumes. The dryer immediately lost power and was rendered unusable. It wasn’t until Aug 9th when the repair person came that we found the control board had burned up! We have the burned parts as well as photographs. Electrolux has been awful to deal with citing the fact that we did not purchase an extended warranty and saying there is absolutely nothing they can do short of selling me parts to repair it or helping me purchase a new one. This is a HUGE SAFETY concern and they are very much not interested in helping us find a resolution. Thankfully we were home to turn off the breaker and the burning stayed confined to the dryer itself and did not spread beyond.

I have a two year and one month old stackable Electrolux washer/dryer. Two months ago, in April 2021, the lint basket dislodged and flew into the spinning drum, sucking socks into the fan, becoming a huge fire hazard. We had it professionally assessed, and it seemed “fine”. Then today (June 2021) the lint basket dislodged again, the plastic cracked and screen tore, and 3 more socks were sucked into the fan, and the front door opened on its own. This is clearly a design flaw as the lint basket should not be physically able to dislodge while the door is closed and the unit is in operation.

I purchased an electrolux front load perfect steam dryer in November 2020. By February it was making an outrageous sound and we requested repair. When the [REDACTED] Service representative finally worked on the dryer they stated that there is a manufacturing design flaw. They believe Electrolux has installed a very large drum in a very small cabinet, causing a significant unrepairable defect. Believe this could lead to risk of fire

The product, in the report: Electrolux Dryer Model EFME627UIW

    RE: Electrolux dryer Model EFME627UIW

We purchased an Electrolux washer/dryer set from Grand Appliance Store in Madison, WI. Our salesperson said that Electrolux had re-designed the lint screen to catch more. Our dryer set was delivered around March 22, 2019. With only the second load of laundry, the lint screen came out during the cycle. Approximately seven socks went down the vent area and one was caught. We could not remove it and called Electrolux. They said the lint screen coming out was “user error” and were going to charge us for the service visit. They did agree to send someone out at no charge and the sock was removed. The vent continued to come out or get caught on clothing. We were extremely concerned about a fire risk, but Electrolux would not stand behind their product. Grand Appliance was concerned and replaced the dryer with the same model. The same thing happened again!!!! We had the repair company come out and Electrolux did tell the repairman that they were aware of ten other instances of this happening, but would not authorize return. Unfortunately, Grand would not let us return the dryer. We called again and had more service appointments. Electrolux did not want us to submit our videos - they would only accept them from a repair service, which was a waste of time and resources. Finally, after months of emails with Electrolux stating our concern about a fire hazard, they acknowledged that the model did have concerns and said they didn’t need to look at the videos we have because it is happening so often. I do have videos from both dryers if you would like to review.

Electrolux did send out a new part which they claim should take care of our problem. We have had it for about a month and have not noticed any problems.

It is interesting that Electrolux was not standing behind their product AND blaming the consumer.

I had the chance to submit a review on the product on Electrolux’s website. I was respectful (no swearing, only stated the facts) in my review. Electrolux moderated my review six times before it was accepted. I checked back numerous times and my one star review was never posted. It seems as though they cherry pick their reviews.

Please contact me if you have any concerns. We hope that you investigate this dryer, as we are concerned about a fire hazard.

    Thank you!

The product, in the report: Electrolux Frigidaire Model: FEQ332ES0 Serial: XD62203182

Yesterday, my well maintained dryer randomly caught fire. I started the laundry as I always do, and I heard a strange mechanical noise. I opened the dryer and saw an orange glow, indicating the heater filament was still on (which I have never experienced). Shortly after, I saw smoke coming from the bottom of the dryer and there was a electrical burning smell. I immediately hit the dryer with a fire extinguisher and called 911. Upon some research, it appears this dryer was not recalled, but there was a class action law suit brought against the company for this problem with this model. The class action law suit has ended, so I can no longer file a claim. I am worried that my entire apartment building is outfitted with these dryers and it is a matter of time before there is another incident.

The product, in the report: Electrolux dryer model # efme617stt

Electrolux dryer model efme617stt poses a fire hazard. It has a defect that allows lint to enter the blower... Retrofit screen provided by Electrolux did not correct the safety issue, the tech states that the new screen causes the plenum to warp.

Bottom line... Lint in the blower is a fire safety concern.... Someone’s house is going to burn down because of this dryer model if not recalled and a suitable fix put in place. Current solution is to have tech do a warranty call every few months and clean lint out of the blower.

The product, in the report: Electrolux Dryer Model: GLEQ2152ES1 Serial # XD84011036

I bought an ElectroIux Dryer Model GLEQ2152ES1, Serial # XD84011036 on 10/25/08. On I 1/13/16 the electrical/control pane1 started on fire and went up in flames, I am lucky that I was home otherwise my whole house would have burned down. I called Electrolux and they told me that they had no recalls on that model and because I bought in in 2008 I had to either get a service tech which would have cost approx. $100 which they were not willing to pay for or they would offer me a 20% discount on a new dryer. I understand that it’s the consumers responsibility to fix things that go wrong such as belts, drums, etc ... however, in my opinion an electrical fire is something that went seriously wrong. The fault is obviously with the company. I had my 5 year old granddaughter here that night sleeping over so it could a real disaster. I feel the company should take some accountability for this and anyone else who owns this dryer should be contacted.

Dryer is.burning and molding clothes. Here’s what I sent to Howards: Hello [REDACTED],

We are having many problems with our washer and dryer. It has been three months since we have been able to successfully wash and dry a load. We need replacements of a different brand. Too many problems! [REDACTED] mentioned that she could solve half of the problem by sending us a new washer, what are we suppose to do, wash our clothes and then hang them up until someone actually cares? We paid too much money to have these problems. We feel like Howards does not care about our situation.

The washer has to be drained 3 times and water is present and dryer have been fixed multiple times, if clothes are in it, it shuts off every two minutes. No one has no idea how embarrassing this is. No clean clothes for months, plus the dryer is burning our clothes when it would work. Both of the products we received were defects, PLEASE HELP.

[REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] I am sure you can help [REDACTED] without this being escalated, we also have two babies at the residence. Thank You in advance.

    They never helped me.

They engineered a insulating padding to prevent electrical current flow to metal housing by moisture conductivity, He said that there is just not enough insulation to prevent this overheating.

Caller attempted to contact the manufacturer August 13, 2012 but has not at this time been successful.

He is reporting dangerous overheating that could be alleviated with an insulated padding.
