My new clothes dryer had a fabric softener sheet adhere to the discharge vent. I chalked it up to a new machine until yesterday (several months later), when it happened again. The problem is that once the vent is clogged by the sheet, other clothing items will adhere to it, blocking the vent. This can lead to incomplete combustion and carbon monoxide build-up.
