  1. No one hurt

Made Apr 6, 2018, sent to the company Aug 17, 2018, published by CPSC Aug 31, 2018

The product, in the report: Harbor Freight tools stores /Central Pneumatic pistol grip blow gun Item # 68259 -narrow 3” extended nozzle

Pistol grip blow gun purchased from Harbor Frieght Tools Item # 68259 This is a held air blow gun which connects to any portable air compressor hose. Gun has a bass threaded fitting which is attached on the bottom of the hand held pistol handle. I installed a [REDACTED] 1/4 in. x 1/4 in. NPT Male Industrial Plug with tephlon tape to the threaded bass fitting. This is commonly done for air hose quick disconnect. Upon hooking up pistol grip blow gun to pressurize air compressor (120psi), and after using blow gun several time. I laid gun on Work bench, minutes laters pistol grip blow gun separated from bass fitting, which under pressures shot blow gun across the room. This was at a very high velocity. Lucky no one got hurt from the blow gun traveling across the room. Upon inspecting blow gun, it is very evident that a manufacturer defect lead to the separation of the pistol grip blow gun plastic handle and the molded brass fitting. This is the third pistol grip blow gun we have purchased from Harbor freight tools which has had a similar incident. We also have purchased (2) the same type of pistol grip blow from [REDACTED] ([REDACTED] and [REDACTED]) which have had the same exact problem. All three of these pistol grip blow guns are made almost identical.

I have a picture of the pistol grip blow gun and the bass fitting if needed.
