I was using the Wicked Ridge M-370 Crossbow with Acudraw when the string broke and struck me in the left eye. The crossbow was brand new out of the packaging and this was its first use. My family is avid hunters and I have been using a crossbow to hunt for 40 years. My son took 3 shots with the bow, but felt that it kept hitting to the right and felt there might be something wrong with the vision. My granddaughter took an additional 5 shots and also found the same problem. I adjusted the sighting and took one shot and found that the arrow reached about 20 yards before falling when suddenly, the string broke from the right side and struck me in the left eye, just above the protective glasses I was wearing. I was taken to the hospital as vitreous fluid was leaking from my eye, but the small hospital near my house was unable to repair it and I was flown via helicopter to a larger hospital where I had emergency surgery and now only have 20% vision in my left eye.
