Hurt, no treatment Made Feb 17, 2017, sent to the company Mar 15, 2017, published by CPSC Apr 5, 2017
The product, in the report: Black crossbow gun
Purchased the silent strike crossbow at Rural king. Followed all directions given. I discovered that there is not a safety mechanism to hold the string. After attempting to cock the bow 4 times, the catch mechanism that engages the handle fell apart. Sustained bruises to my wrist because the bow would jump back to position when attempting to cock the bow.

Hospital admission Made Nov 13, 2015, sent to the company Nov 23, 2015, published by CPSC Dec 15, 2015
The product, in the report: Silent Strike fiberglass pistol crossbow Silent Strike Fiberglass 80 LB Draw Weight Self-Cocking Pistol Crossbow DX-70
My step son purchased a Silent Strike fiberglass pistol crossbow at Rural King (distributed by Retail Factory Direct). We went home and he assembled it, but he was not able to get it cocked. He could pull the bow string back but the “safety latch” didn’t automatically engage and hold the string back. I then tried and was able to pull the bow string back but the safety latch did not engage. The bow string suddenly released and amputated the top 3/8” of my finger-about half way down the finger nail, leaving the end of my bone exposed. I then went to a local urgent care center and they sent me to the emergency room. They bandaged it and scheduled an appointment with the hand surgeon for the next day (Monday).
