The product, in the report: Crosman Sniper 370 crossbow. Black with scope.
I purchased the Crosman 370 Sniper cross bow in [REDACTED], but it was produced in the United States. I had the bow for about 1 month. I had fired approximately 30 bolts from it. I was cocking the bow, (which involves having your foot through a straddle at the front of the bow and pressed against the ground, and then pulling the bow string upwards with a cocking rope until it engages the trigger) and the bow string had crossed the dry fire safety and almost engaged the trigger when suddenly the right side of the bow assembly let loose. The bow ribs on the right side, both upper and lower ones, had cracked horizontally which had released the pin and then the wheel. The pin and wheel exploded out of the bow striking me just over the knee on the inner thigh. This bow has 185 lbs of pressure when cocked so the force of the wheel and pin striking me was very strong. Luckily I was wearing thick jeans which stopped penetration, but I still received a painful injury and a large bruise (I took a picture of the bruise two weeks after the fact - it was still there although faded.
I contacted the company to get my money back, which they refused. I explained to them that I no longer had any trust in their product, and my reasons which should be obvious. I explained that if the direction of my pull was slightly different I could have got the pin in my eye, which at 185 lbs pressure would have entered the brain as well and killed me. I told them that while I got lucky somebody else may not. They did not address my concerns at all, which is why I am filing this complaint. I want a clear conscience that I informed the authorities hopefully before someone is seriously injured or killed by this faulty product. My hope is you can take action to prevent this. Sincerely, [REDACTED]
