Made Apr 10, 2012, sent to the company Apr 18, 2012, published by CPSC May 2, 2012

The product, in the report: Atlantis Cedar Playset made by Backyard Discovery The model number for the playset is 65210COM. The manufacturer is actually Leisure Time Products/Backyard Discovery.

We bought the Atlantis Cedar Playset in May 2011. On 3-22-12, the beam mount that attached the swing to the clubhouse broke. This caused the clubhouse to fall, leading to further damage to the clubhouse. There was not a significant storm or any unusual force that should have caused the beam mount to break. I have contacted the company (Backyard Discovery), and they are insisting the damage was caused my mother nature. I feel like there is a real safety concern here that the company is not taking seriously. There was some rain and wind the day that it happened, but no significant storm that should have caused this damage. I have asked nothing from the company other than for them to investigate this safety concern, and have had no response to the safety issue. If my kids had been playing on the playset at the time the beam mount broke, they could have been seriously injured. I feel there is a defect in the quality of this playset, and I don’t want anybody to get injured from the same thing happening to them. I have pictures of the damage if needed.
