While there were no immediate consequences, I had sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) that required life saving brain surgery.

No one hurt Made Jan 10, 2025, sent to the company Jan 15, 2025, published by CPSC Jan 30, 2025
The product, in the report: This is an electric powered vehicle, capable of carrying four passengers. It is capable of going over 30 MPH. It has two seats in front and two seats facing the rear. It has headlights and tail lights. It does not come equipped with any seat belts. It has a windshield and a canopy top. It is grey in color. It is 115 in. long and 50 in. wide. It weighs 965 pounds.
We purchased a brand new E-Z-GO Express S4 Elite electric vehicle manufactured by EZGO/ Textron Inc. Barely a couple of months after taking possession, in March of last year, it abruptly stopped running, causing a sudden and dangerous stop that could easily throw a person from the vehicle since it does not come equipped with seat belts. It was sent to a dealer to be serviced. Just two months later, in May, the same problem occurred. Once again, an abrupt stoppage. Again, it was sent to a different dealer for service and then returned after several weeks. In August of last year, it abruptly stopped working for the third time. It was sent to yet a different third dealer for service and then returned, supposedly fixed. In November it abruptly and dangerously stopping running for the fourth time! In speaking with the technician who last serviced the vehicle, with a representative from Textron in the line, he told us he had “no confidence” that the vehicle could be repaired and he also said he heard that other new EZGO vehicles were experiencing the same problem. That dealership now has refused to service the vehicle for a fourth time because we have complained. It has been sitting, unusable, ever since for several weeks. This is a very dangerous vehicle!

The product, in the report: EZ-GO golf cart. Blue in color.
While standing next to my ez-go golf cart, the cart took off forward at full speed, traveling approximately 25-30 yards striking a lady causing a loss of consciousness and a severe leg injury, then wedging itself under the rear of a motorhome with the wheels spinning and foot pedal straight up. Wheels kept spinning until someone reached in and shut the key off.

The product, in the report: 2022 E-Z-Go LSV (“cart”); model: “Liberty”; manufactured by Textron. See https://ezgo.txtsv.com/personal/golfcarts/liberty .
The subject product is a 2022 E-Z-Go golf cart (LSV) manufactured by Textron. It’s design is such that a sharp piece of steel steel injured a passenger’s leg upon existing. This occurred twice on different dates. This steel is part of the structure that attaches the seat belts to the LSV. The present injuries were painful but nto severe. However, if a minor accident were to occur rear passengers legs would be jammed into the sharp steel fixtures.

No one hurt Made Jun 6, 2017, sent to the company Jun 14, 2017, published by CPSC Jun 28, 2017
The product, in the report: ezgo golf cart, Shuttle TXT serial # 2018921
Ezgo golf cart, Model Shuttle TXT 2x2G manufactured date code of H303 caught fire in parking lot on University Campus. Fire likely originated from the carburetor. Flames were visible all on the outside of the fuel lines around the fuel pump, and the gas tank. Fire was extinguished, police and fire dept notified and the universities office of Health and Environmental Safety. No injuries. Was determined later on the fuel tank became leaky towards the top where the fuel level mechanism is. Fire burned through fuel tank and rear right tire. Damage to fuel system and drivers seat also notable. Safety recalls have been published on this model cart but for 2014 and 2015. Appears there is a similar issue with older carts such as these.

Hospital admission Made Jun 13, 2014, sent to the company Jun 25, 2014, published by CPSC Jul 10, 2014
The product, in the report: EZ-Go golf cart gasoline engine
On March 10, 2011 I suffered an accident on the Island of Culebra, Puerto Rico, where an EZ-GO golf cart that was rented to me overturned at the end of a downhill. As a result of the accident my daughter suffered severe shoulder injuries and scars on the left side of her abdomen. I learned about the recall of these vehicles (Campaign 14-153)and the serial numer of the golf cart is not included within the serial numbers of vehicles included. The vehicle inolved in the accident is the same model included in the campaign. Could the golf cart rented to me have suffered form the same defect (loose nut) even if it was not included in the campiagn?
