The product, in the report: Navien tankless water heater model CR-210A

We purchased a Navien Tankless water heater CR-210 in Feb. 2009. It was supposed to supply hot water on demand and save us a bundle in energy costs. It cost us about $1500.00 and $700 to install. From the beginning , the water heater did not work properly. We had to run the water 5-10 minutes just to get warm water. Although it wasn’t set to go on all the time, the tank never stopped running. We called the vendor and were told that it was supposed to work like that and there was nothing we could do. Our bill went up a hundred dollars a month instead of down. We put up with it until we no longer got any hot water. About that time, there was a recall on the product, so the plumbers came out to fix the unit. They found out that the wires on the mother board were crossed and the unit was put together wrong. Apparently, the unit had not been U.S. certified and was quite dangerous. The plumbers fixed the water heater, charging us several hundred dollars. We requested that Navien refund our money as they were supposed to pay for the recall and pay for the excess energy charges the defect had cost us. They refused to do either. I reported them to the BBB and they received no response. They are rated F on the Better Business Bureau website. We feel that this water heater should not have been put on the market uncertified and defective. The Navien America company did not honor the recall or the 12 year warrantee on this defective unit.
