The product, in the report: electric water heater

(04/28/2021) The consumer stated the water heater caught on fire in the middle of the night. The consumer stated that there was a burning smell. She went to the basement to check. She could see that the product was scorched on the outside. There were flames inside of the small door at the bottom of the water heater. The consumer called the fire department who came and put the fire out.

The consumer contacted the firm on 4/28/2021.

The HTP hot water heater mentioned in my report caught fire (element?) Recall possible? The heater is located nest to my gas furnace. The fire dept. was called & contained the fire. I do not want this model water heater to cause the potential and serious incident in any other family’s life. I feared for my husband who is disabled, and myself. The acrid odor made us ill.

*Incident occurred 4/28/2021. I have yet to receive approved claim credit as of 7/20/2021.
