The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

The product, in the report: Black & Decker Tankless Water Heater model BD-27-DWH

We purchased a tankless Black & Decker water heater and after a year, it started tripping fuses in it and shutting off, contacted Paragon Group USA in New Jersey as they are who B&D uses for service. After several back and forth calls and emails, they replaced the unit, here we are again 6 months later and it started doing the same thing. The box is very hot when you go to reset it. They will only replace it and are not willing to refund money. They told our Lowes store that they would only replace it this time.

The product, in the report: Black & Decker Pro Series 240-Volt 27-kW 5.8GPM Tankless Electric Water Heater.

B&D sells a tankless electric water heater. I am now on my 3rd unit, the first 2 had electrical problems and started to burn the plastic sheath around the electric cables. The original unit was purchased February 2021 and was returned July 2021 after the fuzes kept blowing and burning was seen. The second unit went out December 2021 due to the same burning, third unit that I have for now has been installed for less than a month and is already experiencing problems. Unit will fluctuate from cold water to scorching hot which has burned myself and my children.
