The product, in the report: Robert Shaw 7000 Gas Valve Model# - 24470-68 on HOTPOINT water heater MODEL# -HG40T01AVG02
I had a issue with my water heater where the burner would not light. I had a plumber come and address this issue. During his inspection he found that the gas valve would release gas when the pilot light was out and it appears the gas was not shutting off when the water heater had reached its desired temperature. This could cause gas to flood into the home and an explosion. This valve is a Robert Shaw 7000-MODEL #24470-68 on a HOTPOINT water heater MODEL # HG40T01AVG02. I called the company to see if this was covered under their recall but they said it was made after the recall time frame.
