Hurt, no treatment Made Jun 28, 2021, sent to the company Jul 15, 2021, published by CPSC Jul 29, 2021
The product, in the report: Shark Stick Vacuum Model Number: HZ2002 12 - UL: E491422 - S/N: Z06K1206A7A8 Shark® Vertex™ UltraLight™ DuoClean® PowerFins Corded Stick Vacuum with Self-Cleaning Brushroll
The product is a Shark Stick Vacuum Corded version Model Number: HZ2002 12 - UL#: E491422 - S/N: Z06K1206A7A8 Purchased from Bed Bath and Beyond on 12/18/2020 in Rancho Cucamonga CA. After approximately 11 -12 uses, on 6/27/2021 the motor began to heat up to the point of a hazard, based on an inability to continually touch the area of the exhaust fins area over the motor. After allowing the unit to cool for 30-40 minutes I tried again to operate the unit however the excessive overheating occurred again. This was attempted a third time, producing the same results. I then called Customer Service to address the warranty and the unsafe and dangerous circumstances since online customer reviews revealed that this hazard is being reported consistently by purchasers of this model. The most recent occurrence reviews are 1 week ago, and 4 weeks prior to that (found on the Bed, Bath and Beyond webpage). An even earlier report stated that the plastic housing melted. During my call to Customer Service, they required that I perform the operation again, after opening the dust and floor attachments, which produced the same results of overheating as before. I then contacted one of the Corporate VP’s Mr. [REDACTED] at 1327 Hrs on 6/28/2021 to request to speak with someone who can look into the hazardous situation. Mr. [REDACTED] stated that he would determine who I should report this to, and have that person reach out to me for assistance. At this writing (1359 Hrs on 6/28/2021) I continue to wait to receive contact from a corporate representative.
