The product, in the report: Dyson cordless vacuum 22K-US-VCB1539A.
I purchased a Dyson cordless vacuum and used it for the first time to vacuum my small (700 sq ft) home. By the end of the session I had a very bad blister at the base of my thumb from the hard plastic casing rubbing against my hand. I was holding the vacuum the only way it can be held and it resulted in a bad bleeding blister. There have been numerous complaints from people around the country on social media sites reporting the same problem. I contacted Dyson. They acknowledged the vacuum design caused the blister. Their solution: “buy a different vacuum.”

Seen by a doctor or nurse Made Jan 21, 2026, sent to the company Jan 26, 2026, published by CPSC Feb 12, 2026
The product, in the report: Dyson Ball Animal 2 upright vacuum cleaner designed for household floor cleaning. The product is a corded upright vacuum with a motorized brush head, internal motor housing, and detachable components for cleaning. It is marketed for use in homes, including households with pets. The vacuum was used indoors in a private residence and had not been modified or altered.
While the Dyson Ball Animal 2 vacuum cleaner was in normal household use, small internal components unexpectedly detached and sprang out of the unit. These parts appeared to expose or originate from an internal area of the vacuum that was extremely hot.
Immediately after the components came out, my young child picked up one of the detached parts. Upon contact, she suffered an instantaneous burn to her hand, indicating the part was dangerously hot.
There was no warning that internal components could detach during normal operation or that accessible parts could reach temperatures capable of causing immediate burns. The product had not been modified and was being used as intended.
The injury occurred instantly upon contact, not after prolonged exposure.

The product, in the report: Dyson Ball vacuum UP 13
I was using a Dyson UP13 vacuum when it started smoking and then started making lots of noise and fired a small metal object at high speed. The object did not hit anyone and I turned the vacuum off immediately and inspected it. The metal object was extremely hot and burned my hand when I tried to handle it and it seems like it was the spindle part of the roller brush that broke off and seemed to have melted.

On 3/3/24 a Dyson [REDACTED] rechargeable battery pack has caused a fire which completely destroyed everything I own. Having just moved into the apartment a week earlier, the vacuum was used quite a lot and needed charging more frequently than usual. I left it charging overnight while I went to work that evening and was alerted by the apartment complex manager that my unit was in flames and the fire department were putting it out. After inspection it was determined the fire began at the charging battery.

The product, in the report: Dyson V8 cordless vacuum gray, purple, red.
I was cleaning my Dyson V8 cordless vacuum as the manual suggests [REDACTED]. Carbon fibers from the motor inside the brush roll became embedded in my hands and my right eye. I have been in extreme. Pain and discomfort unable to relax, work, read, watch tv, or anything. I saw 3 doctors before I was able to get effective care as this is such a fine material it is hard to see with standard equipment. I went to the ER, an eye doctor, and then an eye emergency center. I have ample prescriptions and OTC medications to put in my eye for the next several days and then follow up with two doctors March 1st and 4th. There were upwards of 30 tiny carbon fiber particles deeply embedded in my conjunctiva under my eyelid. Even more in my hands. I was not even able to complete the cleaning due to this injury occurring almost immediately upon removing the brush roll. Carbon fiber became embedded and airborne leading to the eye becoming damaged as well. Vision is deteriorating. Pain is astronomical. This has lasted more than a week.

The product, in the report: Dyson Vacuum Model V7 animal Machine: SV11 Animal Extra US Ir/SNk/Ir Serial number: ZN9-US-KKE4948A Dyson V7 Animal cordless vacuum Purchased 01/12/2019
My child vacuumed the stairs and her long hair became sucked into the filter port on the handle area and caught in the engine.I contacted Dyson customer chat and was instructed to take apart the vacuum and try to pull her hair out. This process took over two hours. They disconnected our original chat and the second chat person told me there was no way to save her hair so we spent over one hour taking apart the vacuum I didn’t have the right screwdriver for per Dyson’s directions while she was crying in pain. We had to cut her hair and they did not seem very caring. She was distraught. They said my vacuum is not covered under warranty because it was used with the small filter removed (she didn’t know I removed it to clean it). It was still functioning normally and there was no warning sticker on the device stating to keep long hair away from filter ports.

While I was vaccuuming the floor, [REDACTED] caused the airway block. I turned OFF and flipped the vacuum to pull it out. As I pulling it with my right index finger and thumb, I let go of my left hand. Then the power switch hit floor to turn ON the machine. My two fingers caught and knock off by spinning brush with the pain. This power button type and location caused the problem. It should be a slide button not a push button. If this is a push button it should be located different area. I am sure a lot of people will be faced with the similar case. I don’t want anybody gets hurt by this ridiculous power button.

The product, in the report: Dyson V7 cordless vacuum in the color pink.
I was vacuuming with a Dyson v7 cordless vacuum, when I was shocked by the battery and the vacuum shut off. The vacuum has its charging port on the top of the handle where you have to hold the vacuum. I have used this product before and had received little shocks, but this last one actually shocked me so much that it drained the battery for the vacuum and the vacuum had to be recharged. The shock also left my hand feeling tingly. Like most people when deep cleaning, my hands do tend to sweat a little. I’m sure this had something to do with the intensity of the shock. I have addressed the incident with Dyson customer service, but they were very rude and said that there products do not shock people. I am just filing this report so that there is evidence of my incidence, and to prevent others from being shocked as well.

The product, in the report: Dyson V7 stick vacuum
I was vacuuming my floor with my Dyson V7 stick vacuum when my hair got sucked into the vacuum at the top of the vacuum not at the bottom of the vacuum where you vacuum the floor. My hair got sucked into the crack in the top where the machine pulls apart to be emptied. When my hair got sucked into the machine it got sucked back into the round web shaped filter area. My long hair got all tangled and wrapped around the circular web shaped filter. When my hair got sucked into the vacuum the vacuumed ended up right next to my head because my hair was sucked in. It was a terrifying traumatic event that happened suddenly, very quickly and without warning. I needed help taking apart the vacuum to get my hair out. My hair was very stuck and wrapped around. I was not able to just pull my hair out of the vacuum. After we took apart the vacuum and could see my hair wrapped around and tangled inside. I was forced to take a seam ripper and a scissors to my hair. I had to cut off the hair wrapped and matted and tangled to remove the vacuum from my head and hair. I had to cut my hair out to get free, even after that, I still needed to cut more of the tangled mess of hair off because it was all knotted and matted and tangled up. I could not comb through my hair. I can supply photos of the area where the hair got sucked in. I talked with a Dyson representative. This is a KNOWN problem which the representative described to me. I was able to replicate the safety issue of things getting sucked in at the top using yarn I have a video of the issue.

I was holding on to my Dyson SV04 using it properly to vacuum the dining room rug when it shocked the palm of my hand. This has happened a few times before, but never this strong. After I set it down I noticed that the palm of my hand had become sweaty from the housework I was doing. Looking at the handle of the Dyson I noticed the female plug that charges the device is located in the exact area where you are supposed to hold on to the vacuum to operate it.

The product, in the report: Dyson DC 28 Animal Vacuum. Hose pinches fingers.
Hi, I have owned my dyson for a few years now and Have had so many issues with the hose on mine pinching my finger between the coils of the hose when its sucking something up. It also pinches your fingers if you go to put it back on the machine after using the hose you really have to watch the fingers. Its left marks so many times. My kids are at a age that they like to vacuum but i won’t allow them to because of the hose. Its a complete safetly hazard and dyson should fix their issue with this and replace with something safe for everyone to use....

The product, in the report: Dyson Slim DC18 Vacuum Cleaner
Dyson Slim DC18 vacuum cleaner does not lock securely in the upright/locked position. Even though placed in the upright position and the locking mechanism clicks audibly and the vacuum appears secured in the upright position, it will unlock and fall over spontaneously approximately 10% of the time. This has happened many, many times over few years I have owned this product.

The product, in the report: Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Two Problems with the Dyson Vacuum DC25:
Dyson Vacuum DC25 claims to be “Certified ashtma & allergy friendly”. It is not. The canister doesn’t fit tight, but worse it vents partially directly onto the floor blowing dirt up into the air. I had respiratory problems from it. Others who don’t figure out this is happening and quit using it will, and who have worse respiratory problems than I, could really suffer from this.
Second, the attachment hose is so short and tight, it is impossible to use it without pulling it and being either hit with the vacuum, or the vacuum falling over.
