The product, in the report: Plastic Beer Kegs of America 1/6 bbl beer kegs
I experienced a plastic keg (Plastic Keg of America) failure within the last few weeks on a 2012 model. I guess I was lucky, as it failed in the bottom area of the keg at the newly designed burst disc area and I ended up drenched with about 5 gallons of beer. I experienced no fragmentation (as others have), and it release/failed at just under 40 psi and at 43 degrees F. The kegs are rated at 60 psi working pressure, burst disc rated for 90 psi. I had just boosted the pressure on the keg, unhooked it and set it aside. I’d guess it took about 1 minute after I set it down before it popped on me. it released the entire keg contents pretty violently, completely soaking my cooler and myself. Lately I’ve also had to pull 2 kegs with bulges on the lower tank wall at the seam with the bottom and the slower chime. The keg pressure was about 40 psi when I measured them. Both were full of beer. They were sent back to the manufacturer along with the failed keg and they started to work with us on testing. As soon as the testing was complete they have stopped talking to us and will not provide results of the testing.
