Emergency room Made Feb 1, 2021, sent to the company Feb 25, 2021, published by CPSC Mar 11, 2021
The product, in the report: Syfo Seltzer. The seltzer comes in small 10 ounce glass bottles or large plastic bottles.
On the evening of December 31, 2020, my wife, picked up a bottle of Syfo Seltzer water that slipped and fell on the counter and exploded on impact with the force of a fragmentation grenade. Several slivers of glass sliced into her nose and her finger, necessitating an immediate visit to the Bartow Regional Hospital’s Emergency room. Although the glass did not require stitches, there is still a scar. The force of the explosion also jettisoned shards of glass across our entire kitchen and adjacent living room. Although the bottle warns of the possibility of a cap posing a hazard, similar to a champagne bottle cork, there is no warning on the bottle that indicates the contents are explosive.
