The product, in the report: Hoover Dual Power Pro Carpet Washer Model Number FH51200
I was shampooing my carpet with a Hoover Dual Power Pro (Model number FH51200) when all of a sudden flames started shooting out of the handle release area. I was extremely lucky the carpet was wet from shampooing it otherwise it would of caught that on fire. I had to rush it out the door and it continued to burn outside while I was rushing to get water to put it out. I contacted hoover to report it and they didn’t care they told me that it was out of warranty. I purchased this machine and have been the only one to operate it yes it maybe be several years old but I only use it rough 3-4 times a year and throughly clean it after use. Thank goodness I was able to react quickly and get it right outside as it was burning and melting I did not get injured but it did burn holes in my pants as I was trying to carry it out it was literally on fire from the inside spewing out the handle release and up the left side. I reported it with in 20 minutes after I got the fire out and it took several weeks for hoover to respond their answer was they offered me 15% of a new one. I was not expecting them to replace but they did not care that it caused a fire and had zero concerns about it.

The product, in the report: Hoover dual carpet cleaner model # FH54010
Hoover dual carpet cleaner started to smoke. Took it apart and the electric engine that runs the belt does not stop causing the belt to heat up and smoke. Im pretty sure this would cause a fire. Im lucky by how hot the belt was that it didnt light up

The product, in the report: Carpet Washer
I bought a new Hoover carpet washer from amazon, used it once and stored in the basement for a few months. The second time I went to use it I plugged it in, turned it on and the plug started arcing and sparking. After a few seconds the wire separated from the plug, leaving the plug still in the outlet. The outlet and wall were both covered in black soot and room was filled with a smokey haze of burt electrical and plastic. The house breaker did not trip. There was no extension to the house or personal injury. Hoover Techtronic floor care technology limited Model FH50150 Mfg. Code - J 16C AT

The product, in the report: Hoover PowerPath Carpet Cleaner
On December 5, 2014, I purchased a Hoover PowerPath Carpet Cleaner from Target. Within 10 minutes of the first use of this machine, the machine self-destructed and left a burn on my carpet. I immediately contacted Hoover/TTI Floorcare and after much back and forth was finally able to get a return label for the machine. I returned the machine and in about six week received a refund check for the purchase price of the unit. Meanwhile, I spent a lot of time with E-mails, letters and phone calls trying to resolve what they were going to do about my carpet. It had to be replaced after their machine ruined it. After three and a half months, they finally sent a claim check which bounced! I can’t get anyone at Hoover to take any responsibility for any of this. The machine itself is a hazard and after my incident, I found many other reviews on-line from others that had the exact same thing happen to them. This machine needs to be removed from the market entirely. It’s a hazard, Hoover KNOWS it’s a hazard, but keeps selling it.

The product, in the report: Hoover MaxExtract Dual V Carpet Cleaner Model # F7412-900
Hoover MaxExtract Dual V Carpet Cleaner Model # F7412-900
I bought this carpet cleaner in January 2012. The first time I used it, I cleaned at most 500 s.f., without incident.
On October 16, 2013, I used it for the second time. During my third 4-foot long pass, the motor caught fire. Smoke and a terrible smell came out of the machine.
I called Hoover customer service. There were no cracks in the tank, and the rep told me to plug the machine in again. I did. The motor caught fire again, and this time the loudness of the motor had diminished significantly.
Hoover offered to sell me a new machine, same model, for $100. I turned them down.

The product, in the report: Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning Machine
I was using a Hoover Steamvac carpet cleaner on our livingroom carpet when the machine suddenly began to buzz and emit white smoke. I turned the On/Off switch to Off but the machine continued to buzz, and billow large amounts of smoke. I ran to the outlet and unplugged it but the unit had become extremely hot very, very quickly and scorched the carpet beneith where it malfunctioned. I carried the machine outdoors where it continued to smoke for almost ten minutes.

The product, in the report: steam carpet cleaner
the safety latch that allows the steam cleaner to recline suddenly broke while I was carrying the empty unit up a flight of stairs and causing the unit to suddenly buckle backwards. I was able to jump out of the way of the flying handle, but it could have caused a serious injury to a child or animal. This was the very first time that this product had been used. A similar thing happened at the appliance retailer where I work. The recline lever only catches a very small brittle piece of plastic that snapped off with the weight of the machine.
