The product, in the report: It was the turquoise & white hand held Bissell steamer. I threw it away after the second time it exploded

In one incident, I grabbed the bissell steamer to use once it was hot & the top shot out from the pressure & burned my hand. I ignored it & thought it was my fault. Maybe I hadnt closed it tightly enough. Used it a second time but luckily I wasnt holding it when the lid shot out again.

The product, in the report: BISSELL Powerforce Powerbrush Pet Lightweight Carpet Washer - Model number 2910

I bought my BISSELL Powerforce Powerbrush Pet Lightweight Carpet Washer - 2910 from Walmart in May of 2021. I use it a few times a year on our one carpeted room in our house. Last night I was cleaning our carpet as usual after I had just cleaned out the Carpet Washer when I smelled plastic burning. Right away I turned it off, unplugged it, attempted to clean it out again in case there was a clog (there was not). I waited a bit then turned it back on and instantly the burning smell returned, even worse this time so I turned it off and unplugged it immediately. I am an engineer so I proceeded to unscrew the belt access door but it would not come off. My husband took a turn and applied some force and the belt access door finally came off. The rubber belt was dislodged from its track and had FUSED to the plastic housing of the motor. The interior was full of burnt and melted hard plastic. The belt is still melted to the plastic motor housing. Thankfully I turned the cleaner off quickly once I had smelled the burning. Had I not I fear it would have soon caught fire. This is extremely alarming and could have injured me badly and damaged my home. As an engineer who specializes in root cause analysis and design quality I thought there is no way this has happened before or Bissell would have recalled this model. To my alarm I saw on Walmart’s website numerous other reviews describing the same thing happening to other users of this model. This device must be recalled until sufficient root cause analysis has been completed with corrective and preventative actions put into place. This device is a hazard and may result in serious injury. It would be absolutely awful if a consumer were injured cleaning their carpets. I must stress that I was using this device as intended and I have cared for it as instructed. It has not been used frequently. Although we’ve had it for 2.5 years I’ve only used it a few times a year.

The product, in the report: It is a black rug shampooer.

we own a bissell turboclean powerbrush pet (pro), model # 29879. It is a year and a half old rug shampooer. When my husband was using it yesterday, the belt housing melted and caused water to go over the motor. It smoked and melted on to our carpet, and melted plastic onto the rug. The belt did NOT break. Our living room was filled with noxious fumes.

I had prepared the spot clean for use as per the instructions. I plugged it into my wall and turned on the power button. I started to use the hose vaccuum and pressed/held the soap water button on the hose. Sparks and flames and a loud buzzing noise shot out of the vents under the waste water collection side. There was a bad burning smell. I pushed the power to turn off and unplugged.

The product, in the report: Bissell carpet cleaner

Purchased a Bissell Proheat2x. Used one time, two months later attempted to use again when a smell of a rubber fire filled the room. I shut it off within seconds. I then examined the machine and realized my two brush bars were frozen. I took off the bar guard to see if I could determine what the issue was. It was then that I realized the bar that drives the belts was rusted stiff. I spent several minutes calling the Bissell 800 help line. They referred me to a service center that was two states away. Non the less I spent another few minutes calling the service center. When I returned to the machine after speaking with the service center, I realized the machine was still smoking. I then took the machine outside.

The deep stain cleaning tool has hard teeth in which holes are cut out to allow the mixed cleaning solution to flow through holes, some are cut out to allow for downward flow and some on the sides which it flows outward laterally .I was using this tool on back side of chair / upholstery ,moving the tool in a horizontal motion and the cleaning solution went into my eye twice. If extreme pressure isn’t applied downward on tool the mixed cleaning solution squirts out from lateral sides .

The product, in the report: Rug shampooer: Bissell SpotBot Pet Model: 33N8 Serial 11292C

After about 1 1/2 years, the unit failed ... the four screws holding the top assembly to the bottom broke off suddenly and the entire (heavy) bottom part of the unit fell to the floor: (1) EXPOSING POTENTIALLY LETHAL WIRING AND (2), CREATING THE POTENTIAL OF INJURIES AS THE HEAVY UNIT FALLS TO THE FLOOR. This seems to be a common problem based on reviews found on the web.

The 4 screw attachment points that hold the top of the unit to the heavier bottom just crack and then fail completely with no warning.
