The product, in the report: I ordered a grande sized coffee.

I am going to paste in quotes a part of the email that I emailed Starbucks regarding what happened regarding a faulty cup on Saturday, May 6. I have spoken to a store supervisor by phone on Saturday, a barista at another store on Sunday and the District Manager who called me today (Monday) and all verified to me that there have been some defective cup issues in the recent past. All were very transparent about it, which surprised me. From my email to Starbucks review: “I always get Starbucks right after grocery shopping. Did that again today[Saturday, May 6]. When I picked up the coffee in the cupholder from the middle of the cup the cup squeezed in (abnormally far in) and the top flew off and half the coffee spewed all over my [REDACTED] jersey, my jeans, my leather seats in the car, dash and cup holder. Surprisingly, the coffee stains came out in the wash for the [REDACTED] jersey (which is worth 300$), the jeans and the gold undershirt that I was wearing underneath. The stains on the towel did not come out. I used the towel to wipe up the coffee on the seats, dash and panel of the car. I doused the clothing/towel with [REDACTED] before putting it in there. Luckily, I wasn’t burned, other than just mild skin irritation on the abdomen, hands and both thighs.

If there is a known issue with cups/lids, then Starbucks needs to rectify it. I’m not one of those people who are looking to litigate over coffee. I’m not seeking monetary compensation as I am emailing this. If the stains would not have come out on the jersey and jeans, I would have asked for monetary compensation. The towel is damaged, but that isn’t a huge issue for me.

A coffee cup needs to be firm enough to hold heat over the duration while the coffee is hot and deal with hand pressure around its core without folding in. Luckily, I wasn’t driving at the time or I could’ve gotten in an accident. Also grateful I wasn’t on my way to a job interview or something like that, otherwise it would be ridiculous with coffee all over me. I was going home with a couple of hundred dollars worth of groceries though and it was difficult trying to get things put away in the refrigerator, clean up the mess and try to call the store in a span of a short time frame.

I highly recommend that Starbucks continuously check/test the cups in terms of firmness over time as it deals with the heat of the coffee.”
