  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Jul 17, 2019, sent to the company Jan 22, 2020, published by CPSC Feb 5, 2020

The product, in the report: scented facial tissues I did not purchase the product. The packages of tissue appeared intact. I contacted the manufacturer in July; the problem persists. Puffs Plus Lotion with the scent of Vicks is emitting an enormous amount of menthol, which diffuses throughout the store. Any other items in the area, including paper products such as paper towels, tissues and toilet paper absorb this scent. For people with allergies, migraines and any chemical sensitivity, this is also unavoidable. Not only must I avoid the area in the grocery store carrying Puffs with Vicks, but I have to go out of my way to find stores that do not carry this product in order to purchase staples such as paper towels and toilet paper. Perhaps is P&G could package the Puffs with a more effective wrap Approximately 31% of people are chemically sensitive.

(07/12/2019) The consumer stated that smell of VICKS is leaking out of the boxes of the product that are on the shelves at the Morton Williams store in Manhattan. The smell is also getting into the surrounding products.

The consumer stated that she is sensitive to scents and this smell caused her to have migraine headaches.

The consumer stated that the boxes should be packaged differently.

The consumer contacted the manufacturer and was thanked for the information.

The product, in the report: Puffs Plus Lotion Facial Tissues (3-pack)

The submitter is reporting the product for posing a health hazard. He believes the product gave him Molluscum contagiosum.

He was grabbing a tissue when he noticed a substance and he described it as dried vomit. He inspected the tissue box and he didn’t notice signs of tampering from the outside. He indicated that he is a quarter into the box.

After approximately a week after using the product he visited a physician and was diagnosed with Molluscum contagiosum.

He plans to contact the firm and report the matter.

The product, in the report: Puffs Lotion Tissues - 3 boxes -124 ply tissues per box 21.3cm x 20.8cm Serial Code embossed on side of boxes: 2130u0201s

When recently using a new box of Puffs Lotion Tissues - 3 pack/21.3cm x 20.8cm (Procter & Gamble) I noticed a very strong chemical smell from the tissues. The odor reminded me of a lemon scented cleaning chemical. When I took the first tissue from the box and used it, I was overwhelmed by the chemical smell, and it gave me a headache. I also experienced a burning sensation on my top lip, where the tissue came in contact with my lip. I continue to feel the burning sensation on my top lip 16 hours after coming in contact with the product. The chemical smell from the box of tissues (all the boxes have the same lemon scented chemical smell) was so overpowering when it was near my bed, approximately 1 foot from my head, that I had to remove the tissues from my immediate sleeping area. My children also complained of the chemical smell on the tissues. I purchased two packages of the Puffs Lotion Tissues - 3 pack yesterday (August 16, 2012) and the other package, on inspection, also has the strong lemony chemical smell. Both packages were securely wrapped in plastic when they were purchased.
