The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: This product is a package of bath tissue. It has Angel Soft’s usual branding (the name “Angel Soft” and a photo of a baby with wings) on the package, and it is wrapped in plastic outer packaging. Some of the packaging is clear, and some is a green-blue color. The tissue itself is white, perforated between sheets, and has flowers, clouds, and butterflies imprinted on the tissue. The full package’s dimensions are approximately ten inches tall by seven and a half inches wide. There are eight rolls of tissue inside. The rolls of bath tissue are 2-ply and contain 320 sheets of tissue per roll, which is about 25.1 meters squared worth of bath tissue altogether. The tissue rolls are labeled “mega rolls.” Although the package says it is unscented, every roll of tissue in the package smells heavily of something similar to a lavender scent. I have partially unrolled a roll of the bath tissue to be sure that the scent was in the actual tissue and not the cardboard roll the tissue is attached to. Each sheet smells the same and has a heavy scent that lingers, including on the skin after it is used. This product is clearly scented, and I believe it was meant to be placed in Angel Soft’s “scented bath tissue” packaging, not the “unscented” package that it is currently in, as they manufacture both kinds of bath tissue. I am concerned that other packages of tissue from this batch are mislabeled as well, and that a mislabeled product which comes into contact with such sensitive parts of the body may cause another consumer to have a more severe allergic reaction. I would be more than happy to send the product or a roll of tissue from the product to the Consumer Product Safety Commission to confirm the scent.

I purchased a package of bath tissue/toilet paper from the brand Angel Soft, owned by Georgia Pacific, that was incorrectly labeled. The product says it is unscented, but it is heavily scented with lavender. I believed that I must have been imagining the smell, but the product has given me a reaction after using it, and I have had other members of my household remark about the scent to me. This has caused me irritation, including contact dermatitis on my genitals, itching, burning, and a yeast infection. I tried to obtain a refund from the retailer I purchased it from and get a new package of tissue, but they said it was a manufacturing error and that I would need to reach out to Angel Soft/Georgia Pacific. I have attempted to reach out to Angel Soft/Georgia Pacific to inform them of the issue, as I am concerned someone with a more severe allergy may also receive a mislabeled package of tissue and inadvertently use it, leading to a severe reaction. However, I have yet to hear back from them. I am concerned that more of their products may be mislabeled and contain fragrance.

The product, in the report: 24 roll toilet tissue

This consumer is reporting a 24 roll of toilet tissue that he purchased from retailer in Topeka, Kansas around July 28, 2017. The caller opened the package during the first week in August, 2017 and noticed it had a splotch of something on it that he noticed after his first use. He removed the roll of toilet tissue then showed it to his wife who took out a new roll from the same package but saw that it had a light spray of small dots of the same type of stain. He contacted the manufacturer who advised him to return the first roll of toilet tissue but not the second. [REDACTED] who is the Product Liability was his contact but [REDACTED] was not keeping in touch with him so he went to [REDACTED] Supervisor who verified for him that the substance on the toilet tissue was blood. [REDACTED] supervisor verified that the substance on the toilet tissue was blood. The consumer asked if he could check this same stain for disease and the manufacturer responded that they did not have that type of equipment. [REDACTED] asked the caller what he expected from the manufacturer. He answered that he would ask that he become reimbursed, that his medical bills be paid, compensated for his emotional distress because he already had PTSD and emotional distress. He states that now he is afraid to touch his wife children and is constantly worried about which is causing him more distress. He does plan to have his blood checked for communicable diseases. I thought to refer him to the health department or FDA however he was very distressed and I didn’t want to upset him further. After checking to find that we had reports regarding this product I went ahead with tis one.

The product, in the report: Angel Soft Lavender Scent Toilet Tissue

I bought the Angel Soft Lavender Scent Toilet Tissue by accident from Wal-mart. Almost immediately after using, I i got a terribie rash that infected my entire bottom area. It caused painful swelling, burning, itching, and a rash later developed that caused me to go see my family Dr. The problem spread and got worser and I had to go to the emergency room to get a shot for relief. I immediately had an allergic reaction. My daughter and granddaughter discontinued use right away after smelling the strong since and getting a migraine. The smell is so strong and the chemical caused harm to us. l reported it to the manufacturer. My family stopped using because the scent was to strong and caused irritation to my household.
