The product, in the report: Ball replacement canning lid

I have been a canner four thirty years with maybe a hands full of jars that didn’t seal over those years, I purchased the ball canning lids this year and just about every jar has come unsealed after it was initially sealed for a week or two. I have lost over eight cases of vegetables, fruit and meats because of this. The lids are now thinner and made of poor quality, from a reputable company.

The product, in the report: The ball metal canning lid with rubber seal. “new & improved” version

I use Ball/Kerr products for canning and have had issues with their new lids (flats) in staying sealed. I have followed all guidelines for canning and have had numerous lids come unsealed after they were canned for the appropriate time and sat cooled. Usually within 1-2 weeks it would come unsealed. This causes me great anxiety now wondering if the product I’ve always used is now going to cause me or my family illness. In addition the cost of product I’ve lost and the time and effort in canning the stuff.

The product, in the report: Canning lids

I used Ball and [REDACTED] canning lids in my canning this year. Although I did nothing different than I have done for the last 40 years, many of the lids buckled and wrinkled during the canning process. I am certain that the company has changed the manufacture of these lids in some way this year. I wrote to them but their answer to me was completely unsatisfactory, saying that I must have tightened the rings too tightly. If I did everything just as I have done in previous years, why suddenly this year did I have wrinkling that I had never had before? I am now concerned that the foods I canned will pool or be unsafe to eat. Is there something you can do to look into this? Thank you.
