The product, in the report: 40oz container of jif extra crunchy peanut butter
I was opening a new 40 oz container of Extra Crunchy Jiff Peanut Butter and cut my left thumb on the protective foil seal. The seal was about 1/16 - 2/16 of an inch larger than the lip of the container and the lid, although unscrewed, wouldn’t lift off the container. I had to vigorously twist and pull the lid and once it finally lifted off the container, my thumb contacted the seal and I received a 1//2inch cut to the underside of my thumb. The Best Date was AUG 5 2013, the UPC was 0 51500 72002 8, and the mfg code was 1217 425 11:28 3. I notified the company at www.jif.com and received a return email with reference code 9565035. I also contacted a [REDACTED] at their Consumer Relations, 1-800-283-8915, and provided additional information as requested.
