The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Sep 5, 2018, sent to the company Oct 22, 2018, published by CPSC Nov 13, 2018

The product, in the report: Glass Bottle

The consumer indicates that he has purchased four of the same Starbucks glass drinking bottles and three have already broken. The consumer states that two of them were dropped however one of them shattered when his wife lightly banged the drinking bottle against a coffee mug she was carrying on her other hand. The consumer believes that the products are hazardous because aside from shattering easily, they also break into “millions of pieces.”

The consumer indicates that her granddaughter dropped one of the drinking bottles and had a sliver of glass stuck in her foot, which the consumer removed successfully.

The consumer contacted the retailer and explained the situation. The representative he spoke to informed him that there was nothing she could do about the matter and advised him to submit an online complaint; the consumer has yet to receive a response.

The consumer notes that the drinking bottles come with a machine washable fabric sleeve; and are used every other day on average.

The consumer plans on keeping his glass bottle for at least the next thirty days in case an investigation ensues.

The product, in the report: approx. 10.5 oz. glass bottle with metal lid which is screwed on.

On July 8, 2010 I opened a bottle of Starbucks Frappuccino Coffee in the glass bottle. The top of the bottle sheared off, badly slicing my right index finger. The top of the bottle was still threaded onto the lid. I went to my doctor’s office and received 5 stitches. I missed work because I could not type or use my right hand. My finger was extremely painful with any change in temperature due to nerve damage. I required physical therapy. I still have nerve damage - hypersensitive in part of it and dull feeling in other parts. I also cannot completely bend or straighten the finger. According to the doctor, it is permanent.
