  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Jul 18, 2017, sent to the company Jul 26, 2017, published by CPSC Aug 16, 2017

The product, in the report: R.W. Knudsen Family Organic Concord Grape Juice 32 ounce glass bottle UPC CODE : 7468210783 PRODUCT CODE : 62225002 EXPIRATION DATE : Oct 26 2018

On July 17 I consumed a bottle of R.W. Knudsen Organic Concord Grape Juice. When finishing the last of the juice from the bottle, I noticed that my mouth was full of glass shards. I ran to the sink to spit out the glass I had not already swallowed. I did not attempt to prevent the glass from exiting my throat and proceeded to swallow in order to evacuate the glass and prevent cutting of my esophagus. After swallowing some of the glass, I consumed a large bowl of cereal in an attempt to prevent and damage to my stomach or other internal organs. I then called the local ER and staff advised me that if I was not spitting blood that I should not come to the ER as imaging would not show glass. ER staff advised me that if I began to spit blood, or cough it up, that I should visit the ER right away as it could be a life threatening issue due to internal bleeding, bleeding from the lungs or wind pipe. They also told me to pay attention and report if I happen to notice any blood in the toilet, when wiping, or on stool for the next two weeks. Needless to say, I am very upset, anxious and worried for my health. I am also worried about my fellow citizens and I request that R.W. Knudsen company immediately inspect all equipment used in the production of beverages in the 32 ounce glass bottles, most especially the Organic Concord Grape Juice in the 32 ounce glass bottle. I have retained the bottle which still contains some of the glass within. I request that my Federal Government act on the behalf of myself and other consumers and request that R.W. Knudsen review methods and equipment used during the production of beverages packaged in glass bottles. The glass bottle itself is intact, with no breaks or cracks, evidently, the glass within the bottle is a result of remnants of a previous glass vessel which had broken causing glass remnants to contaminate intact bottles which were filled and released to stores for sale to the public. I request, for the safety of consumers, that packages with the Expiration date of Oct 26 2018 be recalled as I have already verified the presence of glass within at least those units labeled with such expiration date. I am emotionally distressed over this situation as it may result in injury to my body. I request an update from the company, or from safeproducts.gov to update me as to the actions taken as a result of my report of this problem. I hope to see this product recalled so as to prevent such trauma and worry to others as I am currently suffering due to this product defect.
