  1. First aid

Made Jan 27, 2026, sent to the company Jan 30, 2026, published by CPSC Feb 18, 2026

The product, in the report: Glass food storage jars sold as a 4-pack under the Homestead Kitchen brand. Clear cylindrical glass jars with matching clear glass lids. Each jar is approximately 5.1 oz (150.8 ml) capacity. Product packaging states Glass Jars 4 Pack 5.1 oz / 150.8 ml. Jars are intended for food storage and household kitchen use. The interior rim of the jar and the underside edge of the glass lid contain extremely sharp, jagged, unfinished glass edges capable of causing lacerations during normal washing and handling.

The interior rims of the glass jars and the underside edges of the glass lids contain extremely sharp, jagged, unfinished glass edges. These are not cracks or chips but appear to be improperly manufactured, unpolished glass surfaces.

The sharp edges are located where consumers routinely place their hands during washing and use. The edges are razor-sharp and capable of causing deep lacerations.

This defect was present on all eight jars across two separate sealed four-pack packages, indicating a systemic manufacturing defect rather than isolated damage.

The product is marketed for food storage and normal household handling, which makes the presence of unfinished glass edges an unreasonable safety hazard. While washing one of the jars prior to use, I sustained a laceration to my thumb caused by the sharp interior glass edge. The injury occurred during normal hand washing and not due to misuse or breakage of the product.
