The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. First aid

Made May 21, 2026, sent to the company May 27, 2026, published by CPSC Jun 10, 2026

The product, in the report: Spray paint, flat, 12 oz can. Ensure of specific details as can blew up

A Rustoleum spray paint can blew up in my hand. I bought the can a few months ago. It never sprayed right. It was like the pigment wouldn’t mix up and it just sprayed weak and clear. I let the can sit in WARM water- not hot- in hopes it would mix better. Ive done this many times. When I started shaking the can, it blew up. It shredded the sleep of my sweatshirt, the paint went all over me and my kitchen ceiling, the mixing agent went all over the floor, and whatever blew out of the can destroyed my stove. It was terrible. My hand is still sore.

Made Jan 8, 2021, sent to the company Feb 2, 2021, published by CPSC Feb 24, 2021

The product, in the report: Rust oleum premium chrome silver mirror lacauer

Rustolueum chrome lacquer for automobile- new line includes various colors. I was shaking the can as per back of the institutions and all a sudden boom. Bottom of can didn’t blow open thank god I’d have been covered in shrapnel , but it turned the exact opposite way pressure a was soo high I put it in cooler and returned it to Walmart, they actually initially said idk if we can return this it’s used, then manger saw it and said yeah that’s definitely not normal. I use tons of spray paint cans all brands and rust oleum has done many weird things over the years, this was the worst. Same as galvanized can recall it just didn’t break cuz it was 1/3 full had it been full I’d look like a robot.

The product, in the report: Rust-Oleum 11 Oz. Vintage Copper Gloss Spray Paint can Model Number: 248637

Spray painted for 3 hours. First, primer. Then, color paint. Right index fingertip was numb and tingling immediately after. A day later, fingertip is still numb and tingling. Great circulation but no feeling. We all need our fingers to type and write, however I need it to pass medications to patients and give push meds through IV lines and I use my fingertips for pushing meds. After reading several stories of the possibility of NEVER regaining feeling back into my fingertip, I needed to share my story and concern, Safety concern: I would like to see a caution label or special attachment encouraged to prevent this injury from occurring to someone else.
