  1. First aid

Made Jul 25, 2011, published by CPSC Aug 16, 2011

The product, in the report: red aluminum cylinder can, red plastic spray nosil lid.50ml volume of pressurized air. US patent #:7174856

It Whom It May Concern, While using ‘Pet Corrector’ recently, i have had some unfortunate burning to my stomache, and after contacting the company to try and resolve this issue, i am now aware that they have no intention on giving any thought to my claim, even after sending numerous pictures of my scarring due to their product. While using the product ‘Pet Corrector’, i was left with a round dark scar on my stomach. The spray can was in the pocket of my loose cargo shorts, while i bent over to pick up the dog, the top nossel pressed against my stomach causing the pressurized air in the can to release onto my skin. I have worked with this product for several years now without any serious problems, i know that the air should not come in contact with skin, however i did not expect the lid to pop off so easily or the spray nossel to be so easily pressed. I am now left with a permanent scar, circular in shape, about 2” round to be lefty on my stomach. The afflicted area turned red and started burning right away, by the next day the spot and surrounding area were swollen and had turned a greenish-black. Now 2 months later, the scar is still visible. After reviewing the canister,i can say with 100% accuracy that this particular can does not say-lid must remain on can at all times, or do not keep in pants /shorts pocket. After sending pictures and emailing back and forth with the CEO of this ‘THE COMPANY OF ANIMALS,Ltd.’ the only feedback we got was him insisting that scarring is impossible because it was tested and says that all cans say-keep lid on when not in use. The new cans all do say in fact to keep the lid on etc, however the one i have kept from the accident DOES NOT have those words on it anywhere. I have used this product for years and am just highly disappointed with the CEO for not even listening to the concerns of his customers. If the pressurized arir is this dangerous when in contact with skin, i would think the lid would have to be stronger and have someway of locking, incast of children, etc.The lid is always the first thing lost, it pops right off when touched. I would like to see that this company take such risk factors more seriously and got back to their customers with such matters.
